I think 90% of football lovers agree that the phenomenon Ronaldo was the most lethal forward scepter that ever existed, it seems that the lions that shattered his knee were meant to limit him, he was a monster, there never was and never will be anyone as lethal as he is, THE BEST! Probably all true except the 90% part. Doesn’t get the recognition he deserves because his brilliance was too fast, efficient and effective for modern viewers to appreciate without HD resolutions in the highlights back then. It’s just so fast and overwhelmingly good that you almost have to be a soccer player to see it. Zidane saw it. Zanetti saw it. Nesta saw it. They and many others will attest. But also…. The numbers before the devastating knee injuries don’t lie.

@@yoinkhaha I agree, I think we've come to this age where we have real geniuses when comparing above average players every 8 years or 10. It was beautiful to see him play, I remember the World Cup with my family in 2002. I was only 13 years old, but I remember every detail, I also remember how beautiful it was to see him live for Real, Inter. A genius, actually calling him a Genius would be an understatement. Both him and ronaldinho, but in terms of center forward, he had something, I don't know what, something you feared him, you saw 10 opponents in front of you and you knew he could easily get past them. Speed, physical strength, finishing, dribbling, IQ... He had it all, those damn injuries... always ask me ''he did all that and he's certainly one of the greatest in history and for me the best center forward that ever existed , what would it have felt without the knee injuries'' I get goosebumps just thinking about it. As a good Brazilian, I feel honored to have seen such monstrosity play

Ronaldo YES' knee ended his career. several and several and several times stopped for long periods, they took him out of shape along with the Hypothyroidism that he had, which also caused an unusual weight gain. No Ronaldo had come back from one of the three injuries the ultimately ended his career so he wanted to distract with the haircut and not be asked about his injury. Which let him to perform in that 2002 World Cup and win it, my friends 👍🏽

Adore rthat third injury: He won world player of the year, ballon for, World Cup, and was on target to help real win a league and champions league in his first seasons there, but an injury at the ended of that season mean he was out for some circula fans and his team lost them without him there (he was the difference maker).

One time Ronaldo's coach was mad cuz he wasn't really worried or focused on the match they had next day, the coach said: "Ronaldo, do you even know the opposite team's defenders?" And he said "No, but sure they know WHO I AM"

Even with his injuries he is considered as on the best in history if not the one. Mourinho, Zidane, Bobby Robson, Ibraghimovic, Zeedorf, Maldini, Nesta, Cannavaro, Benzema, Messi, Maradona, etc the list is really long of those guys who consider him as one the best ever

That haircut has a history. When he had a problem with his knee, many newspapers and journalists talked about the problem of him coming back. Cutting a totally weird cut was his strategy, to get journalists to focus on the haircut and not his knee problem, because he was back and didn't want them to undermine his confidence!

E funcionou!!! Dali em diante, todo mundo só falava do corte de cabelo dele!!! As crianças, os adultos estavam aderindo ao corte de cabelo e a imprensa passou a falar e mostrar pessoas, pelo Brasil, usando o corte de cabelo "Ronaldo Fenômeno" na Copa de 2002, onde à Seleção Brasileira conquistou o título de PENTACAMPEÃ DO MUNDO DE FUTEBOL. (Ronaldo foi decisivo na conquista desse título).

Just imagine if he hadn't had those two knee injuries, injuries that often (especially at the time) would be career ending! Insane to imagine. It almost feels like we were robbed of the one true GOAT.

Ronaldo is the best striker, and probably the best player ever. He doesn't have this title due to bad luck. By the time his peers were at their peak form, he had already retired due to constant injuries. That's the only reason why he can't compete with people like Messi. Messi has won 20 years in a row. But a Ronaldo before the injuries was simply scary.

If you were to compare all the greats in history from the time they started playing to the time Ronaldo got his first major injury, he dwarfs every single one of them in numbers, there is a reason he holds the title for youngest ballon d'or winner.

Hahaha that haircut. I was 14 where Ronaldo won the 2002 World Cup, and me and a lot of friends did the same haircut. Is ridiculous but everyone in the school love it.

Re sharks fin haircut: There was so much distracting media hype around him (basically cuz he was such an incredible and ultra Nike-hyped phenomenon) in the 98 World Cup which they lost, that the prevailing theory is he did that ridiculous haircut in ‘02 so that it would dominate the media questions with something light and take the place the grinding questions/narrative which could become a distraction. Super smart, won the Cup that year.
