ROME METRO TRAVEL TIPS - ROME TRAIN STATION TO SPANISH STEPS
Welcome to Rome Italy. One of the most beautiful cities in the world.
This video will take you on a journey on the Rome Metro Line A from the Rome Train station stop named, Termini to Spagna, the hop off point for the famous Spanish Steps.
Termini is Rome's main railway station and the second largest in Europe after Paris Gare du Nord. It is served by two of the three metro lines (A and B). Metro Line C is currently in the final stages of construction with three more central stations yet to be finished. The line will connect with Line B at Fori Imperiali-Colosseo (the Colosseum) and with Line A at San Giovanni. However, Line C will remain the only metro line not to serve Termini.
Spagna is the Metro station nearest to the world famous Spanish Steps. The Spanish Steps are a two minute walk from the Spagna Metro stop.
I provide a map of the train station and a walkthrough.

They had to build the Metro so deep down under because otherwise they would have kept digging into 2000+-year old historical sites and would never have finished. But - if you want to ride a REAL deep escalator: Moscow metro! It's deepest tunnel is close to 100m below the surface. Problem was that the communists didn't care too much about plans - they just dug deep enough not to collide with other lines, sewage or the Moskva... 😂. However, their Metro stations are pure works of art! They were built to be the 'proletarians' churches'. From Art Deco to neo-classicism - every single one worth a journey! As soon as you can go there again, that is 😉...
Very nice video as always! A Long time ago we were in the Roma. Really amazing city. Thanks for sharing. Have a nice trip. Stay safe.

As a Rome-knower, I can confidently say: Well done! Finding your way through Stazione Termini is not that easy, especially when you are there for the first time. Your tips for the tickets are also great. When in Rome, you will also find it fun to rent a scooter for a day or two. Helps you get around very well and you can especially go and see the sites that are a little further out of town (Tivoli, Ostia, Via Appia etc.). There is a good one right outside of Termini: "Treno e Scooter", when you leave the front side over the Piazza with the bus stops to the right. Can't miss. Kind and helpful, and if you book in advance quite cheap, too... BUT. Please do the world a favor and at least try not to goof yourself as an obvious tourist. One, it saves you from embarrassment, two, it saves you from most pickpockets. Nothing says "I'm a stupid tourist, please pinch my wallet!" more than waring a basecap with something in green-white-red (Italian national colors) or Italian landmarks like the Colosseum or the Pisa tower on them. No Italian wears that! If you want to wear a cap, take a Yankee cap. They are international and even worn by Italians. If you really want to mix in, you would wear a slightly tatty looking cap with a fashion brand such as Polo or Hilfiger or Nike. You may also choose an Italian Football club (Yes, Football. The real thing you actually play with your feet, not hot-dog-Rugby 😉), although preferably not one of the icons such as Roma, Juventus or Milan, that could also identify you as tourist. Take one of the underdogs such as Udinese or Bari or Hellas Verona. In any case - Italians love understated appearance, so don't choose the cap with the adidas-stripes in XXL and bright red - choose the one with the stripes stitched in the same color as the cap itself. Same counts for your football-logo. Oh - and: Italians don't wear shorts outside of their homes or the beach. You needn't dress up. Casual is absolutely ok. But when you go to town you try to make 'bella figura' - i.e. long pants. They can be linen or thin cotton when its hot, but shorts: Tourist! You can even show your ankles without socks when wearing linen summer shoes or Docksides, but sneakers are for sports. Sneakers in town: Tourist! Same as wearing shades indoors: Tourist! And then: Language! I knowa you finda itsa kinda funny whenna you trya sounda lika Italain. I've got news for you: Itsa NOT. It's quite embarrassing. Especially when you get what you think is Italian sing-sang in the voice right but everything else wrong! When you go to Italy, please pay the people some respect by at least trying to get the pronunciation right. If you get 'grazie' with an English R, no one will blame you. But if you trya to sounda Italian, but say "GRAHTSY" instead of "gratsy-eh" and - Oh. My. God. - "SPAG-NA" instead of spani-a, you are showing utmost disrespect for the natives and are likewise making a fool of yourself. Nowadays it doesn't even cost you anything. Google translator offers you absolutely correct pronunciation for every word in every language. All it takes is a minute or two and some respect. Italy is beautiful, and Rome is not only one of the most beautiful cities in the world - it is second to none. (and I live in the runner-up, Hamburg 🤣 ). Italians are just as wonderful! I have learnt to love the country. As an English native living in Germany, I am in Rome at least twice a year and have quite a few Italian friends. Italians always give a warm welcome to any stranger - but the more disturbing they find it when they feel treated with disrespect as a cliche. They will always be helpful and supportive, cos they'll find out you're a tourist anyway. But, please, in your own interest, don't write it on your forehead...! Oh - and there's no need to run for the Metro. During daytime it comes every 3 minutes.

@@leonardsheatravel You're welcome! Please feel free to do so.
The Metro of Rome is not very extended for a 4 Million City, this is due to the very difficult building conditions. Practically eveywhere you start digging in Rome you will find some ancient remains, and for this reason the new Lines will be build very deep, much deeper than the ancient city ever was. And building a deep Metero is difficult and expensive
