The Archbasilica of Saint John Lateran is the cathedral church of the Diocese of Rome in the city of Rome, and serves as the seat of the bishop of Rome, the pope. Originally founded in 324, the church is the oldest and highest ranking of the four papal major basilicas, holding the unique title of "archbasilica". It is the oldest public church in the city of Rome, and the oldest basilica of the Western world.

@12:22 those colums were talen from the Ancient Forum temple of Jupiter Maximum and was gilded from the gold taken from Cleopatra's ship. Simply incredible when you think about it.

Their daughter 1 of 3 wrote historic letter apologizing for her father's killing of Christians, before her married zenobia, a convert in roman prison- to Christianity. Famous letter in history.
That is a magnificent Basilica! A little sad to see people talking and dressed immodestly in our sacred spaces. These are not museums but temples with the body and blood of Our Lord.
