Rome 1960 Olympics - Australian Equestrian Team

Спорт

The only amateur footage that I have seen of the Gold medal winning Australian Olympic Equestrian team from the 1960 Rome Olympics. Footage was taken with a 16mm camera by Lady Vestey in 1960 and given to me on the publication of my book “Too tough to lose” in 2013.
Other footage taken by the BBC and given to my father Laurie Morgan was tragically lost along with his gold medals in 1987 in a house fire.
Copies of my book “Too tough to lose” which is currently being republished in paperback can be ordered online at www.warwickmorgan.com.
Riders included:
• Neale Lavis riding Mirrabooka
• Brian Crago riding Sabre
• Bill Roycroft riding Solo
• Laurie Morgan riding Salad Days
With thanks to:
• The Vestey family for the original footage
• Original photos from a private collection
• Video editing by Lilydale Online Access Centre, Tasmania
• Music by: www.savfkmusic.com/

Thanks for sharing such wonderful footage, that was guts & determination from Bill Roycroft riding with a broken collarbone, it's also interesting to watch the dressage after just watching the 2023 grand prix in Mechelen that todays horses are definitely carrying their heads differently!

The horses looked so bad ass then! None of today’s amenities. Their eyes and the way they carried themselves, those horses knew they were the shht!
