ROMANTIC CORNWALL WALK in Daphne Du Maurier's Cornwall, Menabilly to Polkerris via Gribben Head
Join us for a romantic walk, inspired by Daphne Du Maurier. Starting in Menabilly Barton car park, we descend to Polridmouth or "Pridmouth" Cove to see the cottage that inspired the boathouse in Du Maurier's most famous book, 'Rebecca'. A steep climb up to Gribbin Head revealing a most romantic picnic spot before following the coast path to Polkerris. After leaving Polkerris, we return finding a glimpse of Menabilly, Du Maurier's home, and inspiration for Manderley in 'Rebecca'.
The walk is taken from The Official Guide to Daphne Du Maurier in Cornwall.
Are you up for some outtakes? You are in for a treat ...

You both make an excellent couple and i love watching your videos fantastic. keep them coming.
Happy Valentine's Day to a great couple! xx
How nice it was to meet here, another year Valentine Day approaching, only this time, it is 2021. What a different world in the middle of this horrible Covid war! I wish everybody well and try/fight to be well and healthy! Thank you for your video sharing a marvelous background in a famous writer's works, and I'm still learning English.

Thanks for the video - a lovely bit of coast, and I love the views out over St Austell Bay. Yes that building is a lime kiln, presumably to produce lime to spread on the local fields. Happy Valentine's day to you both!

This is a really interesting walk. Thanks for the outtakes at the end. Very entertaining. Happy Valentines Day!
Hi Sarah and Andrew Well what can I say this is one of your funniest yet, the mud walking was so funny just what me and my other half do, we've done all of those and even held onto the fence and still slipped up it's been so muddy, hilarious!!! Aren't you a couple of romantics, chocolate, prosecco and a lovely walk in a stunning location, what a great idea. We celebrated Valentine's Day decorating the bathroom with an omelette and custard slice for our romantic meal, and they say romance is dead, ha. ha. Great walk and lovely views so really enjoyed it. Were the out-takes before or after the prosecco, great laugh watching you two. Looking forward to your next one. thanks again Bets x

Believe it or not, the outtakes were before the prosecco. I think the words may have flowed better if it had been the other way around!! Sarah :)
Great video, thank you! I admire your editing and the camera angles. This must take so much setting up but it makes them so professional. Gribben Head area is my favourite walk ! Thanks again.
Haha, I think it was 50p each, so no change lol. Problem with the snow melting is the remaining mud but what a place to have a cottage, right on the beach - perfect. The Gribbon was an interesting structure mind, I thought it was going to be a lighthouse at first and not a lookout. Very nice touch with the chocolate and shampoo but what a shame about the old church being locked up - very unusually indeed. Without the mud, it would have been a definite 9 from me. I always like a good blooper and a real good way to end the video, well, apart from kissing the subscribers that is lol! Cheers Alan

Hi Alan, Got to have a few bloopers! As you can see I was creased up when we were trying to get it right! Had to go in the video! You are right about the mud. I don't like the thought of falling over, although that might end up in the bloopers! Sarah :0
Lovely walk. Been to Sam's once or twice in Polkerris for good food. I believe? , a farm called 'Barton' as in Menabilly Barton, means a farm totally surrounded by it's own land. ??
I so enjoyed this one! I love Daphne du Maurier. Came down for the Book Festival many many moons ago....do they still have it? However, this area is one I haven't really explored very much, so this was lovely to watch especially seeing Menabilly. Loved the snowdrops and spotted daffodils too along the way. As for the mud, well, that's part and parcel of all the fun isn't it?! You two have a very special relationship....it's a breath of fresh air in this world we live in these days. Keep smiling and laughing! x

@@CornishWalkingTrails We will (according to plan) walk this stretch in 2021. Falmouth - Portscatho - Portloe - Mevagissey - Charlestown - Fowey - Looe - Portwrinkle - Plymouth. We will of course have some extra overnight stops and visit Eden Project and The Lost Gardens Of Heligan. And then we will have completed the Cornwall part of the South West Coast Path. Then we will have to decide whether we will go for the remaining parts of the whole path, or take on something else. I.e. the Thames Path or something completely different. Time will show :) Btw - did you receive my email about accomodation along the path?
I love the name mud waddle. It sounds like a village in Cornwall.. or an estate perhaps 😮 Andrew is fun and playful, makes it fun to watch. Happy valentines day I love dauphines Rebecca. Thank you

We loved this walk and video, thank you Sarah and Andrew. We did part of the walk last year including the stretch from Polkerris to Polridmouth via Gribbin Head, so it was great to be taken back. The pair of you were on form, and we enjoyed the outtakes!

Hi, I enjoy watching your awesome videos, that are so interesting and informative,
Happy Valentine’s Day
Thanks so much for posting this video... My beloved and I took this walk in September this year and it was roasting! Lovely to see it done at a different time of year... But no pint in the Rashleigh Arms? You missed out x So glad you enjoyed 'The King's General' - it's not well known but my personal favourite x
I have never been to Pridmouth EVER that it isn't a muddy walk from the farm parking lot.
Polkerris is featured in the 1972 movie Doomwatch.
What a lovely walk!! Beautiful beaches and coves.... And coastal views.... Even if a little muddy! (Liking Andrew's mud waddle!!)..and the 'kissing' sheep were well cute!! Can see where Du Maurier got her inspiration. Out of interest.... Where do you find your really interesting walking route books?? Online.... Or are they all old owned favourites?? Thanks for sharing guys!! A well earned 10/10 there!! Even with the Bloopers!! 😀👍❤

Hi Vicky, We have collected the books over the years because walking has always been something we have done and enjoyed. Some are really old, some second hand but a lot of them are still available online. the national trust shops always stock a good range! Sarah :)
