Romance Authors React to 빅오션 Big Ocean 빛 (Glow) making film and Glow Lyrics

Ойын-сауық

South Korea's first-ever hard of hearing K-pop boy group.
The members-Lee Chan-yeon, Park Hyun-jin, and Kim Ji-seok-perform in Korean Sign Language (KSL), American Sign Language (ASL), and International Sign Language (ISL), with the aid of assistive devices.
After filming this video, Lean and Loo educated ourselves on the current politically correct terminology.
We may have used "hearing impairment" in the video - Although politically correct, this term is no longer accepted by most in the community but was at one time preferred, largely because it was viewed as politically correct. To declare oneself or another person as deaf or blind, for example, was considered somewhat bold, rude, or impolite. At that time, it was thought better to use the word “impaired” along with “visually,” “hearing,” “mobility,” and so on. “Hearing-impaired” was a well-meaning term that is not accepted or used by many deaf and hard of hearing people. For many people, the words “deaf” and “hard of hearing” are not negative. Instead, the term “hearing-impaired” is viewed as negative.
Please let us know, if you're from the deaf community, what terminology you'd prefer.

Thank you for reacting to Big Ocean! There were 7 trainees originally but only 3 of them made it to debut. However, they are currently holding global auditions to potentially expand the group which is pretty cool for the talented people who could get the chance to debut.

Yes "hearing impaired" is negative. It implies person is "broken".

Big Ocean do use the term 'hearing impaired' but I've seen d/Deaf English speaking fans say d/Deaf or Hard of Hearing would probably be more appropriate in English. I think their use may come from translation from Korean terms.
