Rolls-Royce Phantom 2018 Review | The best car in the world? | Autocar
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The name Rolls-Royce defines luxury, and the Rolls-Royce Phantom is the pinnacle of Rolls' own range. Subscribe now: smarturl.it/autocar
This £360,000 luxury saloon is the king of wafting. There's more than 130kg of soundproofing, the interior is lined with hectares of leather, carpets thick enough to tickle your ankles, and whatever kinds of trim you can dream up.
Power comes from a 6.75-litre, twin-turbocharged V12 whose power is entirely secondary to the huge reserves of torque, developed so low down in the rev range that you hardly need to put any effort in to get imperious cruising potential.
Join us as tests the new Rolls-Royce Phantom and decides whether it's still the most luxurious car on the planet.

Exactly what I wonder about. He knew he was going to test drive it. He should have at least tried a shirt
Chris Harris, Matt Prior and Steve Sutcliff are the only three reviewers on KZread that are worth listening to. Being a critic at Autocar teaches you something that other companies don't. Keep it up guys.
I get that many people may not love the design and I have to say I didn’t like it at the start but I recently saw it on the road and my jay DROPPED! It has such a demanding road presence that I don’t think anyone will understand until the actually see it in person.
i think it looks good for this era of cars
This is a great review of the Phantom. I absolutely loved the scenery in the background, made the vehicle look like it was floating. Loved it!
It's so quite inside, it's the clearest I have heard the reviewer's voice that is not a voice over.
Sometimes it feels so good to forget about the competition and just enjoy a calm and quite review.
This was a review or a random person driving a Phantom and talking about how luxury this car is !? 🤔
Amazing front design
Incredible. The return of an icon!
Great work, Mr Prior!
I was working at the McDonald's drive thru earlier today and I saw an old lady driving this exact type of car. It was all white and silver. I was amazed. The most expensive car I've seen pass through the drive through before was the 2016 Porsche 911 and I've been working there for almost a year.
Matt is back finally... Where have you been!!
phantom and that beautiful cinematography.
I saw the new phantom in August and it looks even better in person
I've driven the new phantom. I must say that the most incredible experience is just how silent it is. There is no noise inside the cabin save for your own breath. There's no real way to describe just how utterly silent it is.
7:06, the view was scary but beautiful 👌
If money were no object then Rolls-Royce it is. You drive one of these you're on the peak looking down.
It is, the Phantom is genuinely the epitome of travelling in luxury
Where was the shoot done? The scenery is just amazing !
what is the location the film was shot at please? Looks like some amazing roads! thank you
Excellent stuff from Prior. As per.
good review, excellent verdict
gorgeous...............both the car and scenery
But you want Phantom....!! So true!! Nice review..!!
Cant wait to see Coupe version.
I recall, many years ago when electric windows were first introduced to cars, there were several accidents with children getting their fingers trapped and injured by the windows until manufacturers installed a system whereby the window would stop if anything impeded it's progress, ie a childs fingers etc. Regarding those self closing doors on the Phantom. Do they have a safety system to prevent fingers getting trapped and injured? Be interesting to know.
first conclusion that actually makes sense
I ordered one of these last week in black with a burgundy interior.....but then I woke up and had to get up and go to work!

You are NOT alone
It's quite good that it's peak power doesn't engage until 5,000RPM means you have to give it a good throttling to get it going. That will appeal to the younger rich people. And the early torque will appeal to the older rich people lol. They've done a great job with that car. And I'm glad it's not just a 7 series with a skirt on.
why did you mirrored the camera view in the interior shots?
Screw the car, im here for that gorgeous scenery. GODDAMN Europe!
It would be great to have matt review the ewb version of this machine.
I envy him so much for this. I dream to drive this car over these mountains.
where did you film this video in the UK? how marvelous!
Matt.... Why no DB11 V8 following ? Nice touch using the "Goldfinger" roads around the Belvedere 👍🏻
It sounds great, but how was there no mention of the rear seats in a RR limo review? I couldn't even tell if they recline and are as comfortable as the Maybach ones, or still fixed like in most previous RRs

Matt said there's a lot of space and he could sleep there for a week
Lady Penelope will be pleased. When you see it coming head on, like in the last shot, it has more than a hint of Thunderbirds going on.
Where's this? looks like heaven...
The scenery is so beautiful! Where is this? Switzerland?
That rear centre console is taken off straight from the 7 series. Why can't they bother to design their own like the previous gen?
@13thmistral

probably cost reducing...honestly, this brand is not doing well at all. If they don't do some market research and go find a fucking audience for their cars and come up with something new they are gonna go broke pretty soon. I'd say they should invest in huge suv hatchback style cars that are designed to have no body roll and designed to be like their current cars, cocooning the owner in luxury, while also(like most other brands) have more high end tech in them.

+13thmistral You're not talking about Rolls-Royce right ? They're literally doing better than ever !
Another excellent review, well narrated to the point where us peasants understand what this object is all about.
@autocar where was this filmed?
Where was this filmed? It’s a wonderful place.
giant wheel, love the red color
Well I've ordered mine!
It's ironic how normal people (not car people) usually say super cars n hyper cars are over priced and expensive and car people usually say luxury cars such as the Phantom are over priced and expensive
forget about the car just look at the backdrop of this video so damn beautiful
5:27 Damn the place where this is shot is so beautiful? Where is this?
just straight out of curiosity, does the new Phantom come with Apple car play?
REAR SEAT REVIEW!!!!!!!!!!! That's the whole point!

I agree with you.this idiot keeps talking about the car without showing what features it has.
i already feel richer by watching this
What a view.. where is it?
I don't like how the background music means I can't hear the sound of there not being any sound in the cabin.
Wonderful Driving location
The rear doesn't look as good as the front

If one needs to ask the price, one simply can't afford this vehicle... :) This is indeed more than a car. It is a luxury item. £400k base price, but I reckon most will be close to or more likely above a million. That optional 24k gold plated Spirit of Ecstasy costs as much as a BMW M2.
I’d like to see RR release an electric Phantom, now that’d be interesting. Imagine how quiet it’d be.

You think too deep. Imagine it when you have to compensate a pedestrian because they didn't hear you coming...After your driver knock them down
where was this video taken?
Terrible frame rate conversion in some external shots, I'm afraid. A pity, with such gorgeous background.
I'll have three! LOL! Very nice car.
Why disable the comments on the Ford Focus RS promotional video?
How much difference is there in ride and refinement between this and a Mercedes S Class? Thanks. Fantastic video!
@lukelenap5121

They are both German per se . However I think the phantom is heavier
It's beautiful. No question. But I still say as a Londoner having seen these things all my life in the city, it looks out of place in the countryside somehow. RR need to come up with a GT model that looks less like the opulent buildings that it usually finds itself surrounded by.
Stepping from this to a S-Class the Merc must feel like a monster truck in refinement lol
@gianhet

Probably not that much tho
What place was that ????? Beautiful
For those of you complaining about the steering column, if you really were in the market for a Phantom, you wouldn’t care about that because you’d be spending 100% of the time in the back seat with a chauffeur doing the driving.
It almost looks as good as the scenery
what right hand drive car driving in right lane...?
yes it is
Did anyone else hear the double voice around 3:10 ? Or is that just me? I changed me headphones and refreshed the video.

Which place is this? The place seems more beautiful than the car at times. Both goes well together too.
In which place you are driving this car ??? please reply ..
I was hoping to see more of its interior features. Since Autocar had the opportunity to drive it and spend time in it I assume you could share thoroughly the Phantom experience, showing the interior and its features. I mean, 99% of people watching this video won't have to opportunity to seat in one. The review was okay but I felt you could go into more detail instead of only narrating what you were feeling while driving.
Turn signals are mandatory. Be a good example even if there isn't any oncoming traffic......
Can someone tell me where this is?
What went on with the audio?
I hate the design of headlights when there on. Looks sick with the drl lights on though. Besides that beautiful car
Can somebody tell me please, Which place is this ?

Furka Pass and San Bernardino Pass in Switzerland.
Nice T shirt
We can hear a little bit engine sound inside.
Where is this place ??!!
Finally the car up to the task of Matt's review style. All the shit comments when Matt is reviewing sports cars were worth the struggle of waiting for a Rolls RR
What road is this?
4:48 my dream to live in such a place
They should wrap the steering column with leather. The plastic one looks just like a BMW

BMW 7 has it wrapped in leather, and has machined aluminium indicator stalks. This Rolls has plastic stalks, plastic column, and even the plastic horn cover on the steering. LOL

derbigpr500 No, 7 still has plastic one, I just checked
@samsonokoro5036
6 жыл бұрын
derbigpr500 it's not plastic, that steering is wrapped round in leather, there is chrome round the inner part for all the controls and piano black wood as well. The only area with plastic is the gear lever stalk at the bottom end and the plastic covering where the indicator controls,.wiper and gear stalk are housed which is same for every single car in the world.
