They are really sturday and solid as compared to the plastic drums of the Antares. I love the Minoura ones so much that I gotten the mag resistance unit as well.

I use Tacx Antares weekly, not mine but my clubs. They have a slight 'groove' that will center you if you don't put any steering input through the bars. I've never fallen off, but you get your confidence within 30 minutes.

@giomoro I own these rollers too. Great for a recovery session and spinning away after a hard day. Not as hard as a Turbo trainer for resistance but if you go hard and fast you will get a sweat on.

its true as i cannot get a grip on this roller unlike my previous TravelTac roller which was fuss free and smoother. Next in line is the Minoura Action Advance Roller.

Those Minoura are with alloy rollers right? Because I think I am looking at them right now, discounted. So same price as the Antares. I might pull the trigger on them. Are they good?

How noisy are these things actually? Would it be suitable for an apartment? And can you watch TV while sitting on it without having to turn the volume up to 11?

Hi Steve, really appreciate your comment. Well there is a way to get around the balancing part - front fork mounting. However that takes away the fun part of rollers

Hopefully but merely kept the heat down.

Thanks for the clip. I missed out with a bid for Minoura Action Advance Rollers and went for CycleOps instead. Are the tyres you're using "slicks" for road use or specific home trainer tyres?

The beauty of rollers is you can use the regular road tires on your favourite bike. 😉

Looks very tricky

Frankly when compared to my current roller (Minoura Action Advance Rollers), the Antares is slightly louder. The whirling sound is a result of the tire profile which is grooved/patterned with air going through the gaps. So far, slick tires are the quietest of all on any roller I have used till date.

How wide is this thing? Looks easy to veer off into the TV lol

Maximum width is 470mm.

To a certain extent the gear do affect the pedalics but you have to bear in mind that Rollers don’t offer much resistance. They are better used for for technique, warming up and recovery spins.

are the tires 100% slick? The noise is quite high.

These are not full slicks as there are grooves on the tyres which does contribute to the whirl sound in the video.
