This was my first book nook. I bought it and decided to look up tutorials before I put it together. I'm so glad I did! I found your tutorial first. I love that there's no annoying music in the background that interferes with what you're saying. I would have been lost without the bit about the wiring. Thanks for this! This is my second book nook, as when I first found these I was really happy! I watched one to know how to do the wiring and now I am watching this one due to the fact we have to use the small yellow pipe was the wording was quite confusing, I struggled getting the yellow pipe into the hole it was supposed to go but I managed. Thank you so much for your help! :D

Thank you for this video. I've been wanting one of these book nooks for a few years. I like puzzles, and that's how they're marketed - not as full-on MODELING KITS. I ordered this one a few months ago, and when it arrived, I was completely daunted. I felt like the victim of a bait and switch. Luckily, my husband is an experienced model builder like you and is able to provide a lot of tips and tricks. Still, I'm wary and will be taking my time with this.

I wish I had seen your paint pen suggestion before building this model. I enjoyed everything about this build except the tedious edge painting. By the end I was so over that part. I thought about just not doing it, but decided to stick with it. I am glad I did, as it really does finish it off a lot better, giving it a more realistic look. So worth the effort, but a paint pen would have made it so much more bearable. Great idea. I will save that in my memory for next time.

Sunshine Town was a Christmas gilf from a dear friend. So there was a sense of obligation to finish it. I was doing well until the wiring. Thanks for the great vid! That might have been a deal breaker had I not watched. The second challenge was getting the last wall to fit. So many tabs to fit into the Bookstore wall! I still have two floor tabs that are not attached. Otherwise this was a great way to spend a weekend. Even the painting and gluing were fine. Just needed patience. Thanks again!

I appreciate your comment about the clock. I have sent off for a 61mm working insert for £7. I think it will enhance this book nook. I will need to incorporate a simple insert and release method within the build for the occasional battery replacement. brushes are supposed to be like rock when in storage, when you finished painting rinse brush and twiddle bristles with washing up liquid and your fingers, they dry to a nice point for storage. washes off when you put in water again and bristles go soft. all artists do this with fine brushes to keep a good point on them

Can I use it instead of the battery box that came with the kit which uses 2 AAA batteries? Would AA batteries be too “strong” for the lights? Is this even an issue? Thanks so much for the wiring instructions!! The instruction booklet boggled my mind and I didn’t want to ruin the lighting 😂😂
Thank you, thank you, thank you! This is my first miniature build of any kind and first time wiring anything. I couldn’t figure out Rolife’s instructions - your video was just what I needed!
So helpful, many thanks. Purchased Sunshine Town as my 1st Rolife book nook. Have got to the stage where I'm putting it together and sorting the wiring. Your video has saved me hours of head scratching. Absolutely love these, have 2 more sat in a box ready for when I finish.

Thank you! I was struggling with the wiring and this helped a lot! 😊
Thanks again!

brushes are supposed to be like rock when in storage, when you finished painting rinse brush and twiddle bristles with washing up liquid and your fingers, they dry to a nice point for storage. washes off when you put in water again and bristles go soft. all artists do this with fine brushes to keep a good point on them

The wood is too thick , it's a very common problem with this one , you can remove the panel under the nook that covers the switch and turn it on from the rear

@@buildingwiththeboys thank you
I wired it as you showed, but it is still not lighting up. Red and yellow wires are together, black and white wires are together. Power switch is on. No light. :( I even tried pushing the touch button from behind and it doesnt light up at all. Update: I just realized somehow the black wire on my touch panel broke off of the touch panel :,(

Have you checked the batteries
They say for shipment oversea, they don't provide glue, pigment and batteries. Did they send you those ? Paint is only white paint for de edges?

@@buildingwiththeboys I certainly agree on the paint quality. Pre-sanding, acrylic paint, and a better brush do help.
