Roland VR09 VS Hammond B3 through a 145 Leslie.

Музыка

Overall I thought the VR09b did quite well. Like if I didn't own one, and saw this video, I would buy one.
One thing I should of done was compare the Leslie sim to the real Leslie. But I just thought of that just now. A little too late. But my Leslie sim sounds pretty damn good. So that's that! Thanks for watching and may God bless.

Keith, I think you're right, the VR09 sounds very good, but it's light. The B3 is the mama, it has the heart and sounds so good.

Keebie, you know me my heart is Hammond, and my back is tired from moving so many of them over so many years.. X5, M3, XB2, BV converted B3, Roland Rhodes VK-1000, the VR-760 and even the Korg BX3 got heavy in the end.. So the VR09 with the way it sounds and performs, is a great addition to anyone wanting a light tonewheel organ that can perform to where the audience can't differentiate it from a B3.. My vote goes to the VR-09 for the sheer convincibility factor.. Great playing keep up the videos...

Great job playing and great man cave!! I just found you on KZread last week. Your videos on the Numacompact 2x are what got me to buy one last week. It's a nice all around keyboard especially for the price, I like the action too. I also run mine through my Boss RT-20 and the organs sound pretty good, especially live. I was wondering what the organs sound like though a leslie and found this video. I sometimes play out with a Hammond B3 and Leslie 145. I haven't had a chance yet to try my numa though it as we also have a preamp pedal in storage that I have to get.

Hi keith, I've had the VR 09 for about five years now and it's been a good Gigging board. I use. It on the top of my main board which is a Yamaha 9000pro which I've used and Gigged for 23 years since they came out. It's been an awesome board and still is. It's built like a brick outhouse and has certainly stood the test of time and still going strong. My VR 09 however I find a bit tricky at times especially with the volume and the difficulty in controlling it. Yes the Yamaha FC7 Swell pedal is one of the best and has lasted as long as the keyboard as they were bought together. What I will say is that you have to reverse the polarity for Roland and I believe Korg too. I use a 1/4 inch double Y le

The VR sounded really good. About the pedal, Ive heard that the Roland's didn't have a nice volume curve as good as MAudio/Akai's one (they seem to be the same in appearance. Guess they're made by the same manufacturer but sold in different brands only). I've got one of these MAudio's and it's been working fine. Got a Juno DS76

There is a perfect solution! But it's my final solution due to the fact that I will have to hook up 2 cables. The final solution is the Morley Little Alligator volume pedal. It uses a photocell just like the Hammond organ does. Also works and feels just like a Hammond pedal. But you will have to hook up a in and out cable. A pain in the ass! But if I can't find the right pedal, that's what I will do. Thanks for watching.

@@leapest My keyboard expression pedal doesn't work with it and I'm confused menudiving the VR09. A good option would definitely be the type of volume pedal used by guitarists (and analog keyboard) that has input/output like a normal effect pedal. I agree it's a pain in the ass for a keyboard like the VR09 that shouldn't need external effects, but I'm used to that with combo organs/eps in my own setup that need effect pedals. Morley is a good brand, I may look into the model you referenced. there's somewhat cheaper options that would probably be alright too

Hi again Keith, technology failed me as i was coming to the point regarding the BBC Ben volume pedal for the VR 09. I use a 1\4 inch double Y lead so that i can switch pedal polarity without rewiring the pot. Yamaha dont provide a switch like some pedals do. I am replacing the pot on a spare pedal that i have as its gone U S but they are a special fit and dont travel the full throw and they are a 50k rated. Consequently you cant change for another pot. I will say that the pedal on the Roland doesnt oprate as good as on the Yamaha. Ive tried 3 different pedals and the Roland doesnt like any of them. On the up side, you can set the yamaha to do wah wah or swell up or drop back pads or strings behind your main voice. They are avery versatile pedal and great for organ. By the way, with regard to a comment from one of your recent videos, All the VR Models run on batteries including the VR730. My VR isnt the B like yours but is updated to the same software version and the only difference i can see is cosmetic. I think they pepped up the look on the B models by way of the decals. I play in a 60's Band myself and enjoy it like you do. Im battling 2 cancers and still going strong at nearly 72. I was born in 1952 so I see where your coming from when you mention all the ailments Bud. Keep the vids going Keith, they are enjoyed by many. Wishing you all the Health & Happiness for 2024. Good wishes from Colin Hammond ( Hammond by name Hammond by nature🎹 )
