Hi everyone in this video I’ll show you how to mod the Roland multicore cable for the Roland modules td9 td11 td15 td17 td25 td27.
This mod is for those people who usually don’t use all the multicore jack cables and want less cables and no more mess.
Be careful! this modification is not reversible so do it at your own risk!

Great idea, the reason why? Many Roland OEM harnesses are limited in length, making placement of the toms difficult. With this mod, one could incorporate longer tom and cymbal cables, making placement in proper position far easier. Further, if you use your drum module on multiple kits, it saves wear and tear on the multi pin module plug.
Thanks man. I was looked all over the net but cannot find any useful step by step like your video.
One suggestion: your new cable connectors have a metal strain relief built in. If you can cut/ orient each cable so the black insulator is just a little longer (or push the cable forward slightly), lightly clamp the metal ‘clip’ toward the rear of the connector to surround and “grab”the cable. That way if and of the cables get pulled on, the cable will stay in one piece. ;)

thank goodness you said this this way. i would have said it louder with more dirty words.
Very nice! That is a great way to have more control of cable management, and a good easy way to be able to repair any faulty cables. Very nice!
Grazia amico, your a star and I love what your doing, keep up the great work
I admire your restraint in not using all of your inputs. :)

I hate and love roland, their drum products are great but always have upgrade limits and crazy prices. For example spd sx is a great device but it came out in the 2009 and the new drum modules are great but the sounds seems to be of the 2009 too.

@@edrumnow It is crazy to me that they haven't upgraded the spd-sx in so long. At least alesis has finally moved past an lcd display. And the fact that there isn't an easier way to load user samples (like a purpose built interface software, something like what the spdsx has) in the td17 is so frustrating. Thanks for the vid!

@@edrumnow Nailed it! They always find some way to gimp their products. Whether it's a module, such as the TD-17 having hardly any memory to load kits. To something like the MDS-Compact rack having a square tube as it's center brace instead of the industry standard 1.5" tubing that Roland uses on every other part of the rack. You know, heaven forbid if you might want to mount an extra cymbal. There are so many other places that they screw the consumer, including in the wallet.
This is also good for those who want make a hybrid kit. Now i can choose myself how long every cable is! Very usefull!
simple yet effective and putting module on the snare!!
Perfect! You are the man! Thanks
Great idea for a portable simple kit!!
Excelent idea!!! Roland should build them separated like those

Great video, i have a second hands td17 with a broken cable for hihat controller. Will fix it this way.
It was painful but solid work
Excellent vídeo! I have the roland TD-4KP would work with This module ?
Well Done !
where can i buy these connectors?
You should offer these for sale.
good idea. I actually have an extra roland snake I may do this to
I want to change my module to TD-27 but the multicord looks different from td-17 with its snare and ride cables ending in some other jack. So, can you please answer me, do you know, If you can use the multicord from td-17 with td-27? Because I have a ordinardy snare drum with a 6.3 mm jack and I want to use it from the multicord, not from AUX cable. It looks like to me they are the same size, so if anybody know, please help! Thank you

hi, yes it's compatible. The td-27 has a double connection option for snare and ride, USB or regular 6.3 mm jack. www.thomann.de/it/roland_td_9_td_11_td_15_multicore.htm
Thanks for this video. I also own a Roland TMC-6 and the BT-1. What are your settings on the TMC-6 because when I have the BT-1 on the snare drum I always have unwanted triggers coming from the snare. I tried several settings but I can't get a good configuration with the elements that do not trigger between them... thank you.

Hi, try these settings: - Sensitivity = 8 - Threshold = 2 - ScanTime = 1.5 - Retrig Cancel = 2 - Xtalk Cancel = 70
Would this work on td-07 to convert the ts mono cables to trs stereo cables to be able to get more pads hooked up to kit?

yes it should work but on the td-7 you can't split the sounds

Are those built-in samples? They sound great.

@edrumnow

i did this yesterday , but some dual cables get inverted the sound of head and rim, what i did wrong? the red cables are in identifcal position.

sorry for the late respond, sometimes roland invert the white and red cables for head and rim. You have to invert the red and white cable connections. try with this: red-->ring white->tip

Why wreck the OEM harness and end up with a bulky bundle of plugs & sockets hanging out of the back of the module, when instead you could just buy a D type connector and solder whatever cables you like to it?
Estamos no Brasil. Não sou americano
I don't see the difference from what he started with, all he did was put plugins on the cables. Just plug in what you need and let the rest hang, that's all he did after all that work.
you forgot to crimp the wire :(
