I think the fact that you can mute/choke the cymbals on this kit is amazing. It used to be that only very expensive kits allowed that.

This little kit looks unbelievable! I'm a videographer. I remember when cameras starting getting smaller and us guys with the big 25 pound beta-cams would look down our noses at guys standing next to us with the little Canon XL1s. Then we saw the footage. And then someone shot a feature film with one. Yeah...this is the beginning of that with drums it looks like. Yeah you still can use a $40,000 RED Cam to shoot your art film, but you don't HAVE TO to get quality results. In film and video, the story is the thing. In music, well the sound is the thing, not the look of your gear or how much you spent on it.

Had one for 3/4 years and still love it. Added the PDX8 mesh snare and a DW3000 kick. Occasionally MIDI through Superior Drummer 2. The price is right and while it may look like a cheap toy it isn't. It's been a great tool for me. Wish there'd have been something like this 55 years ago. You kids don't know how well off you are. ;-)

I play over 250 gigs a year. I've seen guys play this around town, and it sounds great enough for me. I can't wait to set-up and tear down faster than anyone else I'm playing with. Of course I'll reserve this for super hot-outdoor tiki bar or limited space gigs, but "Peace out suckers!" lol

Please also demonstrate how much noise hitting the pads causes. One of the big points with an electronic drumkit is for it to be silent! Just let the vocal mic be on while you hit it.. :)

Hi EvilRyuCapixaba. We found this on the Roland website: roland.com/support/article/index.cfm?q=faq&p=TD-4KP&id=62926616. "Since the TD-4KP has one-unit structure of the Kick Pad on the stand, it is not compatible with left-handed setup in its original components that are assembled at the factory. If you purchase the "pedal plate for lefty" (available as a spare part, Part Code: #5100035050), you can setup the TD-4KP for the purpose."

Taking in consideration that the “speakers” of my iPad is low quality, I would guess that what I hear from this video must be completely equalized and processed signal or I don’t know how to tune this Roland. I tried everything to no success. It sounds terrible...

Not really, the drum module on the td4 has a lot more features. Quick recording, ambience effects, more kits, tuning, muffling, pad volume, pan and probably the biggest is the ability to create custom kits. The td1 is missing all of these.

This is Roland trying to figure out what to do with, probably a large surplus of TD-4 modules. It's not something I would buy. It does not look that great, and it does not look easy to fold down. Sorry Roland, but i would go back to the drawing board and make something better. Sturdier, easier to use, looks cool. You have a good idea.
