Roland Martin, Gerald Horne Deconstruct Isiah Thomas, Jason Whitlock's Opposition To Black Anthem

NBA Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas says he opposes having a black national anthem played at professional sporting events.
While appearing on a Blaze program with Jason Whitlock, Thomas stated that he believes that the anthem is "emphasizing our separateness.'
Gerald Horne, author of The Bittersweet Science: Racism, Racketeering and the Political Economy of Boxing joined Roland Martin on #RolandMartinUnfiltered to deconstruct Isiah Thomas and Jason Whitlock's comments.

I’m white and grew up singing Lift Every Voice & Sing in church (Unitarian universalist) I didn’t learn til years later that it’s considered the Black national anthem. It’s a beautiful song and much more melodic than the current national anthem. I’d be happy to have that as our “official” anthem. EDIT: I do think many white people may just not know this song, or know it as the Black national anthem. Hopefully once aware of this, some of them will be positive about it, and it’s a song that we can all sing as Americans. It’s an American song.

If "Zeke/Isiah Thomas directly or indirectly undertands, the faded constitutional belief by some constitional scholars, using this excuse of 3/5 a person, being saying, The U.S. Constitution does not relegate blacks to “three-fifths of a person” status. Article I, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution states: “Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons. He apparently did not, or cared to research that, excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons.” The “other Persons” were slaves. So his, "FOUNDING FATHERS", wanted to bring US under ONE UNBRELLA , is historical purposed ignorance of him, NOT A LEAST STUDY (Article I, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution). So driving the Arawak's, for the British call them indians, not the indians themselves, driving them out of God inhertited land by weapontry, the british, spain, the Arabs, and Cuba assisting with enslavement of Africans, therefore, NO CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATION ALL THE WAY UP UNTIL THE CIVIL RIGHT ERA..(400 year).. THEN HE SHOULDN'T BE INVITED TO COMMENT UPON HISTORY HE APPARENTLY HIS NOT UNDERSTOOD OF.. Luv em as a man, father, etc..BALL PLAYER...Please research Zeke...DON'T OFFER LOGIC, FOR LOGIC DOES NOT REPLACE............HUMAN TRUTH, OF MAN'S INHUMANITY TO THE ARAWAKS, AND ENSLAVED ARICANS...

There are black Doctors, Lawyers, Teachers etc. The blacks that are oppressed is bcuz they do that to themselves. Isnt there an all black college? Whites arent allowed that privilege. The stupid shit Rolan Martin has coming from his mouth is stupid! The Constitution was written for ALL men PERIOD. Im sorry bit yall like playing that victim roll and are undermining every thing Dr Martin Luther King fought and DIED for! Im sorry for the slavery but damn it...any person that feels they are owed something bcuz of something that happened so long ago and DID NOT even happen to YOU are just looking for a reason to hate. Im proud to be white and im proud to be an American...if that makes me a racist then thats what i am. If a person is qualified they are able to get any job they apply for. If a person smokes crack and gang bangs then most likely they live in a ghetto...not bcuz a white person put them there. Same goes for the white people. Its just so stupid and aggravating that blacks keep saying they are not considered equal or the Constitution doesnt apply to them. Its not true its just something to be a victim over.😡

I would offer up Ray Charles' soul stirring version of "America The Beautiful" as our national anthem and not just because he was my father's favorite recording artist. Dad would come home from work some days, dog-tired, and play this. As I grew older, it became apparent, to me, that this was a calming, yet up-lifting form of inspiration, a way to help maintain a sense of sanity for a hard-working, family-supporting Black man during the mid-twentieth century. And through it all, he still believed in America. The beautiful.❤️

I am not that familiar with Jason Whitlock, however, I am very familiar with Isiah Thomas because I grew up in Chicago and we are about the same age. It's sad when you get an individual like Thomas who grew up on the westside of poverty-ridden Chicago, where the streets were a crime-infested, and drug-addicted environment which some of his family got caught up in, along with violent police long before George Floyd and cell phones videoed this violence and along with a revolving door to mass incarceration. Then he went to St. Joesph high school, a practically all-white school, except for the Black student-athletes. Then he went to Indiana University, another practically all-white school, located in a racist area, home of the Klan, along with a racist Bobby Knight. So, I ask, do you mean to tell me, Isiah Thomas hasn't figured out that white supremacy is rampant in this country, a country where most trump supporters view this as their country. Wow.
