I really enjoyed this video. I’ve owned a Nautilus 88 since March of this year so I still have a lot to learn, but I absolutely love mine with all my heart. I was actually going to get a Fantom 08 before considering the Nautilus, and I’m very glad I didn’t do that. I would have undoubtedly felt restrained since the sequencer can only create patterns, whereas the Nautilus can do that and so much more. I’m also making extensive use of the arp and the built-in drum tracks for every program and combi, and I like how the user interface is dead simple to use. Also, since there aren’t a lot of buttons on the instrument, the Nautilus looks very understated and minimalist. It’s a beautiful machine. Also, some people complain about the weight of the 88-key model (50 lbs) but I find it to be manageable. So to sum it up, I love my Nautilus, and I’m sure that if I had purchased the Fantom 08 instead, I would have returned it to the store within a week. 😅

I have both, so I can see and know the differences. The Korg Nautilus still has the old Music Workstation features inherited from the Korg Kronos, but with a stripped down interface, and they've removed the KARMA function and added a Polyphonic Arpeggio instead. The Roland Fantom has a more modern, much better user interface, but I have a different opinion regarding the quality of the keyboard. I think the Nautilus keyboard is better than the Fantom 6 and 7. The Fantom's keyboard is quite loud due to the stiff keybed, and the aftertouch is almost unusable because it requires extremely hard pressure on the keyboard to work. The Nautilus AT already has Aftertouch, so it is better than the Fantom in this respect. The arpeggio capability in Nautilus is a great way to create your own arpeggios. In this regard, the Fantom falls short. It's gotten a lot of extra abilities over the years, but they're more like different synthesizer abilities, mostly offered by the ABM Model Expansion and ACB. It also received a Virtual Tonewheel organ, but there are many shortcomings in terms of usability. For example, the limited arpeggio ability. You still can't make your own arpeggios, there is no linear sequencer, only a Pattern Sequencer, the PCM sounds still offer the sets of the old XV-5080, and the Super Natural Acoustic engine is only a fraction of what was in the Integra 7. Since the sounds are quite dated, all the SuperNatural Acoustic sounds would have been needed. Fantom's strengths are Model Expansion kits and ACB. The Korg Nautilus sounds great. The 9 engine is a great option for musical creations. The polyphony treatment is also much better. At Fantom, many people complain about polyphony. I never experienced a polyphony problem with Nautilus. Over the years, Fantom has gotten to the point where it has gotten better and better compared to the 2019 model, but the basic functions are lacking for a smooth workflow. Overall, Nautilus is a better option if you don't want to use a DAW, but if you do, Fantom is a better option. Both synths have good things and bad things.
