Im wondering how does the fantom 06 sound in person compared to Zenology. I use Zen but I also have an older fantom Xr and even though they have some the same sounds I do notice a better overall sound sonically coming from my Fantom, not a huge difference but I can definitely tell my hardware vs the vst

Personally it sounds almost identical. The only edge Zenology seems to have is ease of reverb presets over the fantom. Honestly I can't quite tell if there's any analog warm when running the fantom 06 into Ableton.

Do you think the Japanese consulted with the latin as to what -ology means?

I got the Fantom 07 last Christmas. It’s the real deal

@DJNuimani I bought a Fantom 07 from Sam Ash yesterday on a MAJOR discount. They are shipping me a new one still in the box; one of the last they had. Can’t wait until it arrives - I’m already planning to take the next day off work to check it out. :)

Isn‘t there a USB dongle for the Juno-X and Jupiter-X, where can use your Roland Cloud sub on these machines? Meaning as long as you have an active sub you can download all the sounds to your synth. For some strange Roland reason this dongle is not available for the Fantom imho. At least it was like this a few months ago. This is the reason why I stayed away from the Fantom and ultimately from Roland in general.

Does Zenology Pro have all the sounds of the Fantom 06? Zen i hear has 4k sounds? Fantom has 7k sounds?

wait did you say all the fantom sounds are in zenology? I was thinking about getting the fantom but if that's true no reason to get it now

I haven't currently got either! However, I am about to buy the Fantom 08. I need an upgrade to my old Juno Gi and I much prefer a physical hardware interface over fiddling with a laptop. Don't get me wrong, I use a DAW all the time, but I just want to spend more time playing and practising and not 'computering'. 3,500 overall tones is plenty (I have Native Instruments Komplete Ultimate, so I have plenty of other tones) to be going on with plus there are quite a few free downloads on Roland Cloud - not Zenology of course. Anyway, Fantom 08 for me.

Thanks for the comment. If you already have a Juno Gi then you're gonna really like the Fantom 08. Roland definitely has a signature sound to their synths. I also have NI ultimate. Between the two you'll have more sounds than you know what to do with!!! Cheers!!!

I don't experience that loading time issue in Zenology Pro. The Zenology tones load instantly for me, I can easily cycle through sounds with no load times, just like on the Fantom-06. I'm on an M2 MacBook Air 15 in Logic Pro.

That's great it's optimized on Mac. I'm running pc with Zenology on an M.2 ssd. I figured it would be snappy for me but no luck on that. Cheers!

Zenology a the best VST ever tho

They don't give discounts on the software, because they don't make any money on the hardware. The hardware is just to get you into the eco system, but all the profit comes from the software. For the big Fantom that might be another story, but the smaller ones, they make 0 profit on.

This is true. I wish they integrated with Zenology when making presets just a little bit better.
