The Crash 2 input on my Alesis Nitro module does support choke (all 3 cymbal inputs do). I have tested them all with the original crash and an Xdrum cymbal pad with choke from the DD-530 add-on set.

@@demonicsweaters Hi Justin. Love your channel. The videos are very helpful and informative for a newby in E-drums like me. You have solved a mystery for me, since I have been arguing with a major online seller who believed/claimed that the Xdrum DD-530 add-on 12" cymbal pad should work even with 3 playing zones with Nitro (and with the Xdrum DD-530 module which appears to be identical to the Nitro, and for which it is specifically being offered as an add-on). I got the cymbal and found it would only work as one zone but at least with choke, even if plugged into the tom 4 input (in that case without choke). Since the whole add-on set, including dual 10" drum-pad and mounts for both, was still a reasonable price (under €140 with an ebay discount code), I have hung onto it, as at least now I get all the functions out of it that my Nitro module will support.

Roland Is KING ~ I started my electric drum life on Alesis, got a good deal on one and bought it. It was great until I played a Roland Kit at Guitar Center, I was hooked from get go. I could have stayed at GC and played that kit until they closed lol, I wanted too. I went w/o for a few mnths, saved up money and went back and bought that kit. Alesis been getting dusty every since lol.

Hi there. I have a td9 module, but using mostly Alesis nitro pads with it. Recently I bought a CY12 to use as a ride. And it sounds different to me than when I was using the Alesis Cymbal. Because it is a 3 zone cymbal it is hard to be sure, but... Would you say that a Roland pad/cymbal will have a better sound than an Alesis one? I mean, they should trigger the same sound... I'm asking this because I feel that the hi-hat sound could be improved. And maybe buying an CY5 or a CY8 to replace my Alesis hi-hat would make a difference. Thanks

@@demonicsweaters I did that. I got them to work almost perfectly, I noticed that if I am playing a song and I have to use my symbals in a bridge continuously, 5 hits might work perfectly, but the 6th will be a missed trigger and I also find myself hitting them harder than a regular single zone symbal to get some sound out of them. I have messed around with the settings, but I can't get them to work perfectly. Is that why you don't have the CY8 as your regular one?
