Rojo Ritmo /// Drumline Cadence

This is the "Grande" version of Rojo Ritmo, an original drumline cadence by Brian McDermott. This is a latin and samba themed cadence that's heavily inspired by many cadences I played in high school as well as Latin Lover by Brian Perez. Sambas were created to be music you'd walk along to in a parade. I thought it'd be cool to use rhythms from samba such as the partida alto, along with other rhythms inspired by latin music.
The original cadence was composed for the Brookings High School (SD) drumline for the 2019 season, and the cadence received a 3rd place award in the cadence writing contest held by the Troopers in 2019. With this cadence celebrating 5 years since it was written, I decided to revamp it and write this version, where everything after the snare break is brand new.

I will be updating this with files to the original Rojo Ritmo, as well as a key to decipher some of the less conventional notation symbols. If you have any questions about this cadence, you can reach me at: brianmcdermott.jazz@gmail.com

Love the use of space at the beginning, really helps the phrases build on each other

Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, showstopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, shit on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it.
