    Just ordered the Ethos for less then 140 with tax and free shipping. I drove to get one I paid for online, and they "accidently" gave it to someone else. After lots of arguing, they agreed to ship it free. It wont be a Rogue, but for $140 it will be fine for me.

    Great review Coop and I could not agree more. Not only is the Thomson Fat Pad the best bench pad the versatility of the Rogue Westside bench is excellent. I have a similar set up and have done - bands, reverse hang bar bands, pin presses, chains and board presses in it. If you have the space - you can't go wrong

    Any input on what defines “smaller” lifters when deciding between the width of this vs the competition pad (12.5” vs 14”). I’d say I’m a smaller guy but my gf would also use it and she is smaller than I. No competitions, just home workouts for fun and offset to Rock climbing. Definitely not lifting super heavy, 190 is my max bench and I’m ok with that. I’m 6’ and 155lbs so smaller athletic frame.

    Do you think the infinity dip bar attachment would work on the front upright even though it's not a cage? My garage could not handle an R3 rack, I have the bench, and was trying to come up with a few home hacks to be used with the bench supports...if anyone knows

    Rogue does not recommend but it can be used. I contacted their support after trying it myself. At 200lbs or more body weight it does feel a little sketchy. I added weight to the bench for stability. A buddy that’s 280lbs was able to dip on it without issue also.

    Garage Gym Reviews. Not bad lol, Im currently training in a tiny 1 car garage that shares space between the gym and my shop! I literally have to roll an engine for my project car out the door to get to the rack. My entire workout space is basically the 4x8 footprint of the rack and stall mats! I want a dedicated bench bench with a fatpad specifically but cant quite justify one if it has no place to live when im DLing or squatting in the rack.

    Phil Ivey IMO your “needs” (equipments) should be based on you level of training. It’s pretty ridiculous to spend several thousands on equipment when you have “planet fitness” gains. Reviewer’s whole gym is something you’d expect a top performing powerlifter/weightlifting to have, yet he performs more like a weekend CrossFitter. It’s like putting racing fuel in your daily driver 95 Ford Taurus.

    Well. My garage won't allow a rack like the R3. They roof is such a standard power rack just won't work. So a bench station would help a lot. I can use spotter arms on my folder but Rogue does not recommend doing so since the rack is not bolted to the ground.

  • @Luminatas1
    @Luminatas16 жыл бұрын

    The gym I go to has this and when I first saw it my eyes lit up.... However, when I used it, I was sadly disappointed. My feet barely touch the ground and I'm not a short person, 6'0". I draw a lot power from my feet like most people do. I love the padding and how stable it is, but it's just overkill for the average lifter. Heck even most gym warriors. This is strictly a power lifting bench. I just hopped my way to the power squat rack and used the safety bars there. Take huge consideration before purchasing this thing. And if at all possible, try one out before you do.

  • @nickc3365
    @nickc33656 жыл бұрын

    You forgot to touch on some major downsides. If you bench a lot you are likely a powerlifter which means you will want to train like you lift in contest. With the pad, the bench is now inches higher than competition specs. The structure also looks like it stops you from placing your legs underneath you like most powerlifters do. Women or short lifters legs would either be at the structure or in front of it maybe resting against it. I've tried the fat pad and yes it does seem safer on the shoulders and it is a beast but still unsure how that would translate to a contest being as it's 2.5 inches wider thereby giving you more support behind your delts. When I used it and I'm a pretty big guy it supported by rear delts a smaller person it would likely be the tricep. What would that mean in contest? Seems like to many negatives for me being a powerlifter. If you do bodybuilding or just lift for sport or fitness then ya seems like a winner for safety and longevity.

  • @GarageGymReviews

    @GarageGymReviews

    Those are great points. First off, I haven't had an issue driving into the ground. I know others who have and they simply make a platform for their feet. The second issue is simply because I have the bench backwards with the logo on the front of the bench instead of the back. This is because I don't bench with my feet underneath. If I was competing in Powerlifting, I would likely train with the FatPad and as I got closer to a meet I would switch to a competition pad which I've seen many others do.

    Nick C I just got this same bench this weekend. The Instuctions tell you what holes to put the crossmembers in in order to make it competition height with the fat pad. And he also doesn't have it put together right. The crossmember with the rogue nameplate should be on the side while the skinny crossmember should be in the front and back, allowing for your legs to be put underneath you.

    Brandon Schwan that's good to know. It would be awesome to have this if it was legit specs. I'll have to wait till I move and have more room but maybe one day. Wonder if you could interchange a pad once you get close to a contest.

Caucasians are taller than asians yet many of you still struggle to have both your feet planted firmly on the floor while you benchpressed. Its really weird.
