    This is cool. They should have made a tv series out of this, a comedic Bond. This must not have been easy memorizing all this dialogue without any cuts. Moore was a pretty good actor.

    Reminds me of the commercials that Pierce Brosnan made for Coke after he lost the role of Bond b/c of his television contract. Those ads established him, for many, as the James Bond in-waiting.

  • @jamesshunt5123

    The producers actually met Pierce Brosnan in 1980 while they were shooting For Your Eyes Only. He was married to actress Cassandra Harris who appears in the movie. At the time they liked him well enough to consider him as a future Bond. There was also a huge gossip around 1984-1985 that Brosnan already was *set* to become the next James Bond. Alas his tv contract and the 6 year hiatus meant that took another 10 years.

    Roger Moore is my favorite Bond . He played the gentleman spy character perfectly. James Bond is not supposed to be über macho, which makes it all the more fantastic when he defeats giants like Oddjob or Jaws.

  • @DAGATHire

    @DAGATHire

    9 жыл бұрын

    "James Bond is not supposed to be über macho" That's the comment of someone who has never ever turned a page in a bond BOOK. Bond is not necessarily "über macho" as you put it! But what he is is highly intelligent, extremely dangerous and extremely vengeful. He is a user, who plays the part of a seducing gentleman but only for his personal gain. He's got a troubled past, and he drags it around like a weapon. When the only love of his life is murdered he uses his anger and skills to lay waste to the bad guys. There is so much depth to the character that frankly the Roger Moore era, while fun and quirky, it is still so far away from what Bond is about it's not even funny! There has never been a truly accurate portrayal of the character and probably the closest is Daniel Craig in Casino Royal. This bond show us his impetuous nature, his need for vengeance and his need for approval despite breaking all the rules. You should maybe look into the Bond character more. Because Roger Moore (who i like) is nothing like the real bond character.

    DAGATHire Well said Sir. I don't mind people spouting their opinions of the Bond films. However, I'm constantly seeing Goldeneye and The Spy Who Loved Me ranking the tops of personal favorite Bond movies. I have read all of the Fleming novels to tedium and Moore was an abomination of the character. Craig and Dalton are, hands down, the closest interpretations with Connery being a very great fit as well. In terms of story, On Her Majesty's Secret Service is almost a word for scene duplicate of it's source material. As much as I respect Moore and think he did an adequate job making a lampoon of the series. Him and Brosnan were utter jokes compared to the "better Bonds"

    Mrpastry909 Everyone has their personal favourite mate. It's not wrong it's just a matter opinion. I was just pointing out that the Bond Character is not really a gentle man. I loved only one woman, all the other women he uses to get what he wants. He's actually a ruthless bastard at times. And sometimes those women he uses get killed. And he is portrayed as being hurt in some way. But in fact he is straight up angry. Not because he loved her but because she was killed as a result of say Bond's mistakes. So in reality the gentleman spy idea has been twisted somewhat.

  • @DAGATHire

    ETUsloppysatan Indeed Dalton was way before his time! Coming in after Moore did him no favors. the general public had gotten used to this cartoon (Moore) version and were just not ready for Dalton. Its a real shame. Because the 3 movies he made were quite good and as you say accurate to the character. "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" I hated that movie mate. I know it's as you say a page for page remake of the book, but lazenby was awful. Some people liked him. I thought he was terrible. Ruined the movie for me personally.
