I was with my Uncle, Fred Foster, in downtown Nashville, Tenn at a home where musicians hung out. Roger Miller came in and everyone greeted him. Roger said he had recorded a song that day and if it wasn’t a hit he was going back to Oklahoma. Someone told him “lets hear the song”. Roger picked up a guitar and sang “King of the Road”. The rest is history!.

What a toe tapping evening that was! Roger Miller made his mark. He is missed! If you look up talent in the dictionary, you will see a picture of Roger Miller for sure.

Killer band, and of course a pair of excellent guitar players; but I can't explain the appeal of Roger Miller to anyone. Both the fiddle and the vocals sound off pitch to me. What on Earth was Danny Gatton doing in this band?

I will mediate here guys: Danny was one of the finest guitar players of all time, Roger Miller was a one of a kind triple threat entertainer, songwriter and musician + great comedian, Danny and Roger had a definite friction between then due to the fact that Danny took his playing VERY seriously and didn't like being made the brunt of Roger's jokes while performing, and lastly Roger's fiddle is out of tune/off pitch on Introduction to the Blues! Case dismissed!
