I met Roger Daltrey a couple of times back in the 1960's. Even at the height of his fame, he was very approachable and kind.

I met the Who in the Marquee Club, Wardour Street, London. I was awestruck by their energy and power even though their instruments were so rough and the PA borrowed. Keith Moon was hilarious and very kind to Phil Collins who was only about 14 at the time. Those were the days....

​@@francesleader2746 I bet those were the days - if only for the simplicity and casual intimacy with the bands. Keith was a low-key kind soul though - seemed like most of his antics were just to make folks smile. Makes you wonder what wisdom he conveyed to young Phil.

Roger is Pete's greatest translator. Roger is no one's fool and at times was the band's driver and we live better lives because of it.

Thankfully Roger did not die before he got old. What a remarkable guy! I could listen to him for days.

I love this guy. I have never heard any of the who talk like this. He sounds like he could go on forever. He is very funny, very cute, not too emotional, fantastic memory, swears at the right times and very factual. I think I know who the who are now. Will certainly buy the book. Thanks for the music, thanks for your charity work and thanks utube.

If you wanna really know The Who, listen to Pete’s writing and compositions. Then read Roger’s book. Then watch any live material or interviews, especially those with John and Kieth. These will give you a complete and informed understanding of who The Who were as people and as a band.

There is not one day ever that Roger Daltrey's voice is not heard in our home. Thanks for that Roger.

I never thought I would watch the whole thing! I thought I might listen a few minutes but Daltrey just captured my attention and I had to watch to the end. He sure looks fantastic for 74 years old, wow!

This interview as a story of someone who had to endure hardship, and later an acknowledgement of good fortune, in addition to Roger's singing, plus Pete's writing, playing and singing, plus Entwhistle's playing, singing and writing, plus Moon's playing gives you an idea why The Who is one of the most beloved musical forces of all time

Lived the life of a rock star and the most down to earth guy.

@@philknight7954 My friend was invited to a Highlander Cruise by her sister who loved the show. My friend, Sue, didn't know that much about the show, so was sitting with her husband alone at a table a bit far from the crowd. This fellow approached them and asked if he may sit with them? It was Daltrey. She said he totally turned the evening around from a dull fan convention to a nice funny night. She didn't know who he was until the night was over. She's a country and western fan. Now she's a fan if his, because of his personality.

What an amazing character Roger is! Not only one of the best Rock lead vocalists of ALL time, but a man, who through his work on teenage cancer, is giving true value to society. How he hasn't been knighted by now is beyond me! Look at the other British musicians who have been knighted and they pale in comparison in terms of 'actual' achievements.

Roger is the best frontman ever. Just a naturally cool guy, but genuinely friendly with it too.....very rare in the Rock business.

A wonderful interview indeed very heart warming.

This interview was awesome. I could listen to him telling the stories of his life for hours and hours. He is quite a charming and witty person.

This band changed my life on so many levels. I was in high school when Keith Moon Died I absolutely loved keith as a drummer.

Roger comes across as a very human person and very real. He really seems to care about things. And he tells a good story that holds you. This was an excellent interview.

I'm not a Who fanatic and not into arty stuff like Tommy. Well this year I saw Daltrey at age 74 do Tommy in its entirety- in 105 degree heat no less. It was unbelievable. Seriously unbelievable. The notes he consistently hits, the emotions and storytelling, the stamina and charisma, the orchestration. All without the now-standard lyric teleprompters. Pretty sure nearly every person left that amphitheater blown away. He does everything but walk on water.

He lives for and is in love with his craft. And gives everything he's got. EVERY time. Even when the voice was failing from the throat stuff. He sounds pretty darn good right now. SEE THEM.

I'm absolutely floored!!..I think I just witnessed the greatest and most enjoyable "Rock" interview ever in my life, and at 59 years of age, I've seen quite a few. Roger had me in stitches throughout most of the conversation. But it was the honesty, and the emotionally touching moments that really got to me. I've loved this guy as a vocalist for 50 plus years, but I love him as a human being even more. Can't say enough about this marvelous discussion. I'm 56 now...And I absolutely adore this interview...Covers so much...WWII from a Britt's perspective...How horrible all the Mum's had it during the War.....His Dad being a Higgins Boat Capt. At Normandy on D-DAY... My Father was an Island Hopper had plenty of Higgins Boat rides and also died with Shrapnel in him.... And all the other stuff.. amphetamine use how Roger flushed it....like hell with this.. And the principal's involved...Roger is such a GREAT GUY..... Had the honor of seeing them at the Hollywood Bowl this year... just lovin it ..... Merry Christmas to you and yours up there in Canada.... blessings from California. This SC, USA Gal always loved The Who. I wrote my senior term paper on the difference between hard rock and heavy metal. I made a 110+ which was the best grade in my class. Angela Guerry Queen of useless information ❣

Just watched a recent interview (2012) with Townsend about his book, and I'm struck by how different these two men are in terms of their approach to music and the band. Pete is so esoteric and artsy, while Daltrey seems to feel his influences were born of the working class - a 'get her done' attitude. Amazing they lasted together so long - I suppose opposites do attract.

Roger is indeed an incredible guy as everyone else here has already commented. Liked him quite a bit before hearing this but now have a great deal more of respect for the guy!

I've also been a Who fan since the age of 10. I never get tired of reminders that Roger is a lovely person. The book is really great by the way. Not rocket science, but fascinating and a joy to read.

Roger is such an amazing man. God bless you Roger for an incredible job.

No ego, just a down to earth, nice man. I can't imagine the red mist because he seems so gentle.

teppolundgren God does exist. Keith's still around. Saw him at the Bag of Nails the other night. He took off all his clothes and blew up all the toilets again.

I met Doug Sandom once, original drummer for The Who. They still loved having him come around, and he's glad people still know who he is/was. Cool guy.

The best concert I ever saw was Roger Daltrey at the FOX theater in Detroit. Entwistle was there, along with Townshend's son. They ROCKED. Started out with "My Wife", ended with "Love, reign o'r me" with almost every song one would want to hear in between. The venue was intimate enough that you could actually see them. It was amazing.

The best interview I have ever seen on Roger. Very open and honest. The Who still remains as the greatest Rock band ever. Roger is still the best looking Rocker of the 60’s. He looks and sounds amazing. Long Live Rock!

Roger Daltrey what a man.

I love him. He is down to earth, humble and open minded.

Great hearing him talk about WWII. I feel my parents and grandparents were all affected in the same way.

Excellent interview with a living legend. The London boy behind blue eyes has had a most adventurous and, paradoxically in the rock world, a stable, rewarding long life. Long may Roger continue his meaningful journey.

He's a really intelligent and amusing bloke.

Just stumbled on this interview this man seems very much a good character and very down to earth.

One of the greatest voices in history of rock!

The only time I have ever heard him mention the evil disposition he had in the early days. According to Keith Moon's biography, Moon was really scared of him. He knocked Townsend out cold once. And, according to Pete, he joined Roger's band to be protected by him because he was so tough and such a good fighter. In the early days The Who was his band, and he was reputed to have "ruled it with his fists". It is amazing to me how he has matured into this genial, kind man that he seems to be today.

as he has said, Daltrey realized he needed the Who if he was going to do something more with his life than being a sheetmetal worker. A humbling realization to be sure, but he was right, just like the fact that everyone else had to be asked to join the band. Really a concerted effort to pull together to make it all work. That's probably how all bands should operate if they want to last long-term. Most have proven that they can't otherwise.

Roger is such a sweetheart. He has led such a wonderful rock and roll life. Props to Judge for letting Rog tell his story.

Man what a great session. Rog’ is such a decent and down to earth human being. What a great man. And much respect for making his situation with his wife work, even if it is an “unconventional marriage”. And Judd did a wonderful job too!

'Genuine' is a rare commodity in the business of show, big voice, extremely big bowling shoes, but an even bigger heart

I love Roger so much. I saw the Quadrophenia & More concert twice a few years ago. It was such an excellent night, and it was a thrill to hear my favorite The Who album live.

I saw them do that over 20 years ago with Billy Idol and Gary Glitter in tow. I then saw them do it what - 4 or 5 years ago? That show was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. I've seen them over a dozen times and they get better and better - even without John. I've also seen roger do Tommy. It was excellent. The last time I saw them was 2016 and he sounded great. They had had to cancel twice due to his health. As long as the three of us are still standing I'll go see them again.

I loved his bio and all three of the recent bios have made me appreciate his contributions to the band.

Never understood why people are constantly comparing one band with others. Just take what each has to offer and enjoy it for their own merits. Don't limit yourself. Most music from The Who's era was fucking amazing. If you think The Who were/are better than anyone else then great but it's only your tastes. I love them all. Beatles, Zep, Who, Stones, Kinks, Small Faces, Grateful Dead, Creedence, Hendrix, etc. Magical times.

Wow, great Interview as always,' THE WHO ,Roger has always been my Idol as well as Pete, John and Keith since the late 1970's .. Still sing their songs to this day & till the day i die , not forgetting a many of bands which i have been very lucky to have played in since i was the age of 16 years old now not far off turning the age of 55 years in 6 months time lol Oh! .. One more thing to say! .. Roger Daltrey, Only lives under a mile away from me in a small Village out in the sticks & luckily for me from time to time are paths will cross at the local shops or the local garage. It always makes my day. Love The Who Forever 🤩

By far the best interview I've ever seen regarding the music industry.

In 1976 I was surfing on the Island Tortola in the BVI . It was Cane Garden Bay, Roger his wife and two little girls walked by as we were taking a break from the surf. I said hey there go's Tommy and my friend said that's Roger Daltrey !! We waved and paddled back out, didn't see him after that. Good to see he's still alive !!!
