Rode PodMic vs Shure SM58 Comparison | Which is better?

Just picked up a new "Rode PodMic" for $99 at Bestbuy! Join me for a quick unboxing and then a comparison between the Shure SM58 & Rode PodMic. Both of these microphones are $99 each. The Rode PodMic has a built in pop-filter while the Shure SM58 uses a foam pop filter. In the second half of the video you'll hear a comparison between the two microphones. I like them both but I wonder what your thoughts are? Leave me a comment!

Hi Ez & Lottie. Thanks for this video. I am trying to decide which between the Podmic and SM58. What will I use it for? Well, it is primarily for my working at home set up. I am currently using the following.. 1) Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen, 2) Elgato Wave 1 USB Mic, 3) Rode PSA1+ Boom 4) Open back headphones, 5) Monitor speakers. I want to move away using the USB mic as it means I have to use 2 separate sound sources which sometimes causes problems. I was thinking that using just the Focusrite for input and output would be more stable. Both the mics you featured today sound good but I think that the SM58 sounds fuller when you spoke into it rather than Lottie. My workspace is just my room so there will be some ambient noise. Which mic would be better? Thanks again for your efforts 😊

Cool video. I had to crank everything up to hear properly, sounds like you are recording at like -12 to -16 db. Don't follow that rule, not sure where it came from, but we don't need that kind of headroom. Mix everything at -3 to maybe -6. Then you have a nice hot recording. It is far better to have to turn down a video then to have to try and crank it up. Mic's: I am not impressed with the pod mic. Get a SM57 (I know they are very similar to the 58, but still different enough). only $100 and with the correct windscreen it can sound amazing. I can get my SM57 to rival my SM7B in my Rodecaster Pro. Keep rocking! 🤘

Amazing voice and attention to detail, if you switched to one piece instead of harry potter content, you would make it big my friend

Nice comparison. The shure SM58 sound dull, musty and not nealry clear like the PodMic you can hear that particularly with the female voice.

Hello Sir/Madam, I am a complete beginner. I want to record my written poetry professionally. Suggest me audio interface and dynamic mic. Which gives me professional level quality. Because my room is not sound proof. My total budget is 300 dollars. Tell me such a setup that I will not have to regret buying. Because I have added money very hard.

Don't waste time watching. The dude at the end of the video states he doesn't know which mic is better. What type of review is that??
