Rode Podmic USB vs Rode Podmic sound test and comparison

Ойындар

Here I'm comparing the Rode Podmic USB with the original Rode PodMic, talking about the differences between them but also (naturally) showing you a sound test comparison. What you'll see is they both sound very similar, but the hidden features of the Rode PodMic USB might make it superior in some ways. See the full review of that mic here - • Rode PodMic USB review...

I love the RODE Podmics - I have been using the original PodMics for years, and recently I picked up the USB version. Although I haven't had the chance to use it via usb directly to my computer. But I wanted to be able to use the PodMic without the need of my Rodcaster Pro 2. Thanks for the great video!

If I’m going straight into xlr is there a benefit to getting the podmic usb over the OG?

Hey, the Pro-Prawn I hope you're well. Can you please inform me as to what light setup you use/have? Is there a reason you chose that specific softbox behind you? Thank you in advance.

I need an XLR mic that will be good in a room with a small echo. Would the basic podmic XLR work in your opinion? Do I need something with a pop filter?

  • @TheProvokedPrawn

You can get windshields for it but a pop filter won't help with echo. However, you might be able to tweak issues out with settings on your xlr interface anyway

How do people get the audio so clean? When I plug mine into the rodecaster and set it to the 50db gain they recommend, it’s a noise monster. And it’s not even background noise, it’s just the mic noise

The only issue I see with the normal PodMic is that buying even a cheaper interface will bring to cost up to very near the USB version. Also Rode started selling the pop filter for 25 eur.

Not surprised, probably because it has both options. Don't forget you'd need an XLR interface too for the standard mic.
