Just wanted to say thank you, your video was the final deciding factor I needed to pull the trigger on the PodMic USB. Very happy with it so far and am excited to have something that is ready for me when it is time to look at XLR interfaces.
Finally!!! I’ve been anticipating your review
I have to applaud Rode on stepping up there game, The current market is flooded with "good enough" mics, and justifying any price increase will require an increase in quality and features
Great review and love the graphics / design too❤
Great review. Thanks for taking the time to put them side by side. The new ‘clown nose’ makes a big difference for sure. And btw. Your motion graphics kick this video UP a couple notches. Well done. And thanks again!

Great video dude! I wish I would have found your channel years ago
I'm curious, for usb use - would you say this mic or the Sennheiser Profile USB mic?
Fantastic review 🎉
Because of you, I got this killer mic and it's been my favorite since out of the box. I've also been utilizing the rode unify software with it and it's really good. That being said, this is one killer microphone. I like it better than my procaster.
I have the at2040 due to my rooms poor sound treatment, also it was on sale and cheaper than all of the competitors, however after learning more about this one I'll be sure to pick this one up in the future, I was fascinated to learn about the podmic upgrade and I can't wait to try it out myself.
Omg! Love the review … AND the entertainment 😊

This looks it could be a winner for RODE. The price of entry isn't too high, either. They are coming out with some intriguing options. I'm pretty set for microphones, but still find this interesting.
Very helpful. Thanks.
Hey very good video. I was looking to pick up this mic but I was wondering if you might have a good recommendation for a Table stand style mic. The table i use has a weird edge to it were boom arms dont really work. So was hoping to find a good table stand/ shock mount that would work with it any help would be great ^_^ thanks again liked the video
I have been looking for a secondary "work" mic, and this looks like a solid piece of kit.
Good afternoon! Congratulations on the content, excellent! I need your help with a question. I want to buy the Rode Podmic USB. As it also has XLR mode, I thought about buying a Fethead to use it on my Focusrite interface (1st generation) to give it more boost. Could using Fethead in this mode harm the microphone? Thanks!
I feel the same way with the Rode Procaster. With the caster pro processing, it transforms the sound.
It is fantastic. I use it via USB with the DSP stuff enabled, combined with an Insta360 LINK usb C 4k tracking camera. What a great setup! With zero external interface devices, such as audio shaping or video capture. Highly recommended. BTW, I have mounted the PodMic USB on a C Stand(!), due to its weight, as my mic stands kept wilting. LOL.
I have the Pod Mic connected to a Rode Ai-1 interface. This is about as fancy as I’ll probably get with my setup but I’m always looking at simplifying. Would you say the new Rode Pod Mic USB alone can replace my setup if I’m just plugging it into my computer via USB?
I really apreciate your reviews. Thanks for the great work. I want to replace my Blue Yeti, but I can't decide between this Podmic USB and the Shure MV7. What of these twi mics do you recommend as better USB for a person without audio knowledge like me?

Podmic hands down
Oh. Now that's interesting. That does seem to be an improvement in the sound of the mic at the 4:18 It's definitely more flattering than the OG Podmic
I was afraid that one side was going to be favored when it comes to the xlr/usb mics. Most other mics with the same xlr or usb connectivity seem to have favored the usb in my experience leaving the xlr just "ehh". RODE of course never disappoints as that doesn't seem to be the case here. Great video! - Antics

Nice video comparison. I just tested the XLR version and now picked up the USB version. Is the XLR close to USB sound, regarding deeper audio for XLR. I still think the XLR sounds a bit better. What do you think? Cheers! 💪
It sounds great. I'm wondering how this compares to the Beacn Mic?
Thanks, you helped me make up my mind to get one... as you can see the sound on my videos is crap.... now all I need is the Lumix s5iix lol.
Thank you!
The OG podmic is the one mic made to be EQ'ed. I do like the way the new podmic sounds and may get it as a second mic for my podcast.
I like the OG, I have a few of them. This new one looks very solid and I especially like the new windscreen. I sent a message to Rode about them releasing it and they said not at this time but they would let me know. I was very disapointed.
currently have the Rhode NT1 4th gen and an Audient Evo 4 as my input. The NT1 is on loan from a studio friend that has offered to sell it to me if I want it but also said I could use it basically for as long as I want. The Audient is mine tho I have been considering either buying the NT1 from him or buying the Original Podmic and then the USB version came up. Over here the usb one is 5500 and the original is 2500 so just over double. and the NT1 4th gen is being offered to me at about 4000 (thats with the premium shock mount and an arm that works well enough for it) I am wondering if I should sell my Audient interface and go rhode podmic usb? Should I stick with the NT1? or stick with my audient and get the original podmic? Mainly I do twitch streaming. I used to do singing which the NT1 would probably be better for. But I stopped a few years ago due to some throat and lung related health issues. So now I just speak and do voice acting. I really would love to be able to A/B test between the NT1 and Podmic but I know nobody that owns one. thoughts?
I'm actually planning to get this to replace my Elgato Wave DX. I picked up the Elgato Wave DX a few months ago and i thought it was what matched my voice only to find out months later it doesn't. My choices back then was the Wave DX or the Rode PODMIC. Now that Rode released the PODMIC USB version and its in black, the features and its capability definitely one up'd the Wave DX. Hopefully it becomes available soon in the Philippines.
Just bought it, love it❤ What I miss, is a mute button to mute the mic, sometimes I need to mute the mic in live situation.

I want to hear the podmic usb without the windscreen with the original and if they fixed how thin the mic sounds the further you're away from it. I love how it sounds in usb mode
I’m thinking about getting the sm7b or re20 due to the fact that my room gets noisy mainly from outside noise besides my fan which should I get? I’m using the wave xlr and my voice isn’t deep

I will buy one most likely near the end of August though. I wanted a PodMic, but buying into the infrastructure of the Dynamic Mic was expensive. This would allow me to buy into it and then down the road look at the Streamer X later.
I agree, it's a good deal, but I still kinda feel it should be priced a bit lower. For $50 less, you get the comparable XCM-50, and only $50 more gets you the XDM-100. It's only a great deal if XLR capability is important to you. (It is to me, bit I'll still wait for a sale or price drop.)

I would say for people that want the dual outs, that $50 does make sense. And you are right, the XCM50 is a great option too, though it is a condenser. That said, I love the sound of it.

Real question is shure mv7 usb vs rode podmic usb. Both have xlrs too!
I am using elgeto wave XLR, would the rodeconnect software work with the podmic usb connection using XLR
Can you use both USB-C to the computer and XLR to another device at the same time? I'm doing Zoom from my laptop and also recording to my phone with iRig 2.

Being a former disc jockey on the radio for years, I like an end-address mic. Right now, I have a Rode NT USB+ (side address) and I really, really like that you can turn on various effects such as Big Bottom using the Rode software. But, I would rather have an end-address mic like this Podmic. BUT, I cannot find a review that confirms that I can save the way I can make it sound using things like Big Bottom to the mic like I can do with the NT USB+. I hear that it can be used with the Rode Central app, but I want to hear that you can use the settings like Big Bottom and Compressor and the Aural Exciter and save it to the PodMic so that it can retain those effects even when just connected with an XLR connector.

As others have mentioned, the MV7's default pop-filter is rather infamous for the poop plosive protection and most reviews/discussions I've seen about the mic mention it as the one major negative. Almost everyone's solution is to just replace it with the SM7B's RK345 which goes for like, $15.00 most places, so not too hard to fix if that's truly the only issue you have. That said, this new Podmic do be lookin' pretty nice... 👀
a bit late, but what would you say vs the samson q9u?
How does this feature against Zoom ZDM1 and Sennheiser profile usb microphones?
How would you compare this to the Rode XDM-100? Both have onboard DSP & work with Rode's software, but the PodMic USB has XLR AND USB and is $50 cheaper... Is it possible to connect via USB to the computer, engage the (say) Noise Gate, then connect via XLR and have the on-board Noise Gate still be active?
