That's unfortunate you had a bad experience with 4WD industries. I'm lucky enough to live close to the owner of Rocky Mountain. I've bought many items from him over the years and he is excellent. FYI this video has been sent to Rocky Mountain.

Is it really a good product? You prominently show the production quality in terms of accuracy. I would have send them back. I bought a set if four, shocks included, for our 109 Series 3, ex-mod (thus extended springhangers), 1984, before we start a trip to Moroc. The delivered shocks did not fit ( too short). We bought a proper set from a different supplier in the UK. The new sprjngs lifted the vehicle - about 4 inches (if my memory doesn't fool me), so we bought customized propshafts (UK, HD style, wider articulation). Three months and about 4 000 kilometers later, a front spring layer broke with a loud bang, fortunately at about 30 km/h , but in the early night on a gravel " green" lane, elsewhere 👍in a dark forest. We carefully drove back and checked-in on a campsite. Rocky Mountain could not send a replacement spring to the campsite in Moroc, so we bought a set of Britparts via Paddock spares, UK, and let them sent to ADAC, Munich, ( Great organization in Germany for supporting car owners and drivers in case of a break-down). They managed the customs regulations. Now, five years later and about 5 ooo kilometers in addition on the clock, the bushes ( rubber) are shot. The parabolics - front and rear - sagged to the level the old genuine provided. From this experience, I wouldn't buy Rocky Mountain again.

I have an old Series III 88". My leaf springs are pretty rusty and misshapen. I was wondering what my options were as far as replacing them. The parabolic springs sound good, but I really have no interest in increasing ride height at all. Do all parabolics lift the vehicle somewhat?

I have the same issue with my rocky mountain suspension, all 8 bushes have failed within 2500 miles use (shackles were tightened in accordance with the instructions provided), but of more concern is during those 2500 mile the springs themselves have gone flat meaning the ride height has actually dropped approx 5 inches, and the shackles / spring ends constantly rattle against and damage the chassis. The kit is out of warranty, the UK distibuter who has recently taken on the business initially responded to queries but has since gone quiet, the manufacturer never replied. Worked ok initally but for a £700 bit of kit they should last longer than 2500 miles, i now have to throw them in the bin and replace with something else.

Update as i did recieve a response from rocky mountain spares UK: essentially any warranty of the suspension was void as my vehicle does not run an OEM fitment engine... i warn all potential buyers to consider this prior to buying.

Hi I am in the u.k. I could write a small book on the saga I had with rocky mountain parabolic springs, the waiting round for the slow boat from Vancouver (actually p.r.c.!!!) These things are di yung chinese garbage dressed up as canadian quality. I also call them paradox springs, not parabolic because they are heavy duty and give little benefit over normal leafers apart from articulation. Parabolic springs should be soft! Complain to canada, you may as well complain to your dog, he could not care less after he has his money from you. And quite right, its a dear do money wise! After less than 2 years of fitting, i have now one front spring only out the original purchase out of 4. Rears have been replaced already. Complaints should be forwarded to F.A.O. Ricky and Julian, Rocky Mountain Canada, sunny vale trailer park. You will get more of a response. Don't contact corey trevor its a made up name as i found out once. The only sensible reply I got was from a guy called "bubbles" who told me to go fuck myself.

Similar problems in Europe. Bought my parabolics from RM in 2003. The rear bushes on the front springs disintegrated in 2009 (series 3 SWB used daily, road driving only). HUGE problems trying to get replacements. In the end the UK dealer cannibalized bushes from some new springs (nice guy). The service from RM is a joke. I had one of their overdrives for a year or two. Threw it out after the main roller bearing died and replacements were - you guessed it - not available. The imperial size made finding a standard bearing from SKF etc. impossible. The OD also leaked like crazy and jumped out of gear until I deliberately overtightened the detent spring - out of sheer frustration - which then worked. I also had to heat up and bend the lever as its angles were all wrong. Some friends have the ally door tops. The glass rattles and slides about when not locked shut. But back to the springs. When I first fitted them I thought wow! Who needs coils? But now I have the feeling they've gone rock(y) hard. I'd like to hear if anyone else has the same feeling with older RM parabolics.

No doubt you will agree that the ride quality is exceptional, however, bush supply might be a problem. Personally after the destruction of the bushes I think the modification to poly type as viable

I had issues with my para bushes and had poly ones made up. If I recall correctly the suspension joint was able to make them off another standard bush mold. The poly ones in the chassis were shagged within a year or two, but the poly in the springs went great.

forgot to add, I understand the hassle with supply etc, but in the long term Para springs are worth the hassle. They made my 2a drive like a car and huge improvement off road.

Good stuff! Thanks for the content. Assuming RM service had improved. Would parabolic springs still be your choice over elliptical? Did body roll increase greatly around corners? I’m about to replace mine and either setup is about the same price here in the US.

I don't like parabolics for that reason. There's soooo much body roll, and I don't like the 1-2" lift. I received what turned out to be a great tip: a set of OE ellipticals in good shape and hopefully lubricated is just great! Rusted leaf springs don't do much and that's why so many of these beasts ride so badly.

lol i was going to comment on the difference in spring height because of left and right hand side. However i did go to their webside and rocky mountain advise that they do not do left and right handside.

Yeah, my old S3 has always had a lean. I thought it was the old springs, but after fitting the new set, and then swapping them from left to right and the exact same lean still exists. You may have noted in the video that I have added 20mm to the shackle in the drivers side, it helped a bit

That's a shame, I've had great success with Rocky Mountain Products. They are where I get all the parts for my 109 and 110. I think the issue is the distance though. Since I'm on the Island and they are in Vancouver. Rocky Mountain has really good customer service through my experience. I bought a britpart water pump from they and it failed within a year, so they gave us a deal on a genuine part instead. Who were you trying to get the bushes through, Rocky Mountain or the other company?

Colin Balme I was dealing directly with Jeremy from Rocky Mountain. He told me in an email that the bushes weren't available for approximately 2 months. I understand they must have pleased some customers over the years , but in my experience the service has been pretty terrible. In Australia most Land Rover parts suppliers refuse to supply Britpart in the first place as they are already aware of their terrible quality . Their is no Britpart products anywhere on my Land Rover .

Having similar problems. Bought spin on filter adapter and it continues to leak. Changed to different filter brands and it continues to leak while on the road. It leaks about a quart every 100 miles. Contact RM and they act dumb and no real solution is brought up. Changing back to the original filter. Also their door tops are great until you break a glass pane. Been patiently waiting over a month and a half since I was told to email them. I called since and they asked me to send them an email again to remind them. Their answer is “they are buried in our warehouse and we will pull them but it will take a while”. How the heck do they build new door tops? Don’t they need to be available for building of new door tops being sold?!?! What kind of a business is this? Thanks for validating the bad service. Good products are worthless without good support of replacement parts availability.

Could be me but those springs look like they're not made in Canada, the USA or even Britain. I've a feeling they're low quality items sourced from China and then sold with added 'fashion tax'. It's appalling that such an important part for a vehicle is being sold like that. It's peoples lives and quality and delivery should be first class. I'm very surprised that in Australia, a country with a huge amount of rough terrain, is lacking that customer service.

I only live 30mins away from 4WD Industries. I had my LR water pump in a Freelander replaced by them. They quoted workshop manual times and after saving sometime getting the Job done. They reduced my bill considerably. Like $400.00. Your video has yet to show how This Business is linked to the Fault. I hear the Sydney company and Rocky Mountain playing the Blame Game. Its really a shame. I wouldn't trust Canadian made and the reviews they get on a lot of forums ain't good either.

As I stated in the video on several occasions, 4wd industries mucked up the first order by leaving parts out and supplied the wrong shock absorbers. I'm pretty sure that deserves a mention in a video relating to the exact product that is the topic of the video.

Separate and apart from the springs (I don't like parabolics -- OE elliptical springs _in good shape_ are just fine and parabolics produce so, so much body roll), what dismays me is the poor business practices of most of the parts suppliers, and the poor quality of many of the parts on the market. ECR is utterly boring and unappreciative of your business. Atlantic British is at least okay. But both of them have mostly cheapo Britpart parts (made in China) on offer and they tend to be sooooooo much worse than actual NOS stuff. Dare Britannia, formerly British NW Landrover, appears to source excellent quality parts but according to the many reports and lawsuits published on Google, it's a company run by a total crook. Rocky Mountain sounds like a disaster. It's too bad; I have a Series 3 88" in really good shape but it's like pulling teeth to find good quality parts for it. (Anything with any rubber in it most definitely has to be NOS ... the cheap Chinese rubber just doesn't work.) It's very odd because Series Landrovers have gotten very very expensive and have a pretty upscale owner base ... you'd think these places would aim a lot higher.
