Such a nice, calm by the book shave. All the products working in Harmony. The live was a treat, was in a taxi on the way home when it all kicked off. Not sure the cabbie really got it when I said I need to get home as soon as possible for a shaving video.

The Atomic Rocket is my favorite synthetic brush! For me, great handle size, and the knot is wonderful.

Glad to see you enjoy an Astra SP. I remember when it was your go-to blade, then one year it fell off your short list of favorites. Like you, I've moved to sharper blades, but I always return to an Astra when I want a break. Come to think of it, I think I'll go and load one for tomorrow. Cheers, Kevy!

A very necessary "back to basics" episode. I agree on every point posed. I cleaned and polished my Edwin Jagger DE-89; also with the 3D laser diamond handle. It now sits, gleaming on its stand. I believe that I might give it a go this weekend. To date, I have never received a trouble free shave from Astra Green. But I digress. Then again, I've never tried it in my DE-89. Thus, another reason to pull the Jagger down from its perch. This cream was surprising in more than one way. It's performance was eye-opening. The lather produced was a thick, whipped cream texture. This was achieved with a thimble sized amount of product, with a brush, and application of proper lather building technique.I found myself craving a shave after watching the righteous lather. I hope Rocky Mountain finds a U.K. stockist soon. The scent described is indeed a happy medium of a cologne, & dirty sandalwood. Which would be perfect for just about any aficionado of ToBS, or Proraso. To confess, I've never tried anything by Bluebeard's Revenge. Every review has been positive; no matter the item. I'd like to try the EDT, as well as the balm. Thanks, mate, for another quality session. Enjoy your weekend with some much earned rest, and relaxation. Perhaps some curry for Saturday dinner? Just an FYI (as I have ordered before myself this way), for US customers, if you order direct from Edwin Jagger in British Pounds, you will save just over US $11 over Amazon's US price for this razor, in taking advantage of the current exchange rate. 👍 Could not help but note there are a fair amount of Amazon reviews for this razor with issues concerning defective or compromised threading on the head cap. Anyone here have similar such experience? A pity EJ doesn't sell the handles separately! (EJ, consider this a request please) 😉

Great shave Kevy💈💈 The EJ DE89 is an under rated razor these days, actually it's a marvel of shave tech. Some people say they can't get a close shave with one🙄 it's not the razors fault. The DE89 has a blade gap of .72mm, plenty. The secret is the "neutral" forward blade exposure, efficient without the aggressive blade bite👌 Oh well, as they say YMMV. The RM cream looks really good and love sandalwood scent, may check this out. I have this brush, works perfect. No issues and nice video again👍 Enjoy!

Thanks Terry. I didn't know the gap on the DE89 was .72mm. Paired with the right blade it does work really well. The cream was fantastic. I can still smell it on the towel I used. Really nice scent and terrific performance. Enjoy the weekend. Kevy 😀👍

@@kevyshaves4109 Hi Kevy. I checked the Above The Tie blade gap chart and the actual gap on the EJ DE89 is .76 in mm measurement. Another chart shows .71 depending on model number IE: DE89 or DE89L? So, sorry about the above mentioned .72mm. 🙄 Check the ATT blade gap comparison chart on their FAQ page. Enjoy!

Hello, Sir, how are you, I recently purchased Edwin Jagger 3one6 and that shaves far better and closer than the DE 89 and is available on shavenation.

Kevy great video could you do a shave with a broman razor similar to oneblade but you can use de blades broken in half

Kevy mate! What do you think of the astra/DE89 combo? I've used it for my last three shaves: first one tore my face to bits, second and third were some of the best I've had since I started wet shaving

Do you have a between shave routine? I am plagued with razor bumps after even the best shaving experience. I am wondering if a between shave routine would help.

I try and use either witch Hazel, aftershave balm or a moisturiser every day between Shaves. It's definitely improved my skin. Cheers. Kevy 👍

Nice vid; I have to ask: how many of those washers have disappeared? Mine must find their way into the drain....and I got one of those plastic things to prevent stuff from going into the drain, but the last 3 have vanished......and I really do not want them to obstruct the pipes....last time I paid $300 for the plumber to fix it.... that is a LOT of shaving stuff that went down the drain....\

I have been using Astra Blues and Rapira my whole time wet shaving. are there any blades other than those that you think give good shaves that I should give a try? Thanks. Best wishes.

Gillette Nacet, Gillette Silver Blue, Gillette 7 O'clock yellow, Perma Sharp, Gillette Wilkinson Sword saloon pack. Best thing you can do is get a sampler pack of different blades to see which ones you like the best. Kevy 👍😀

Kev now it might be something obvious but why do you put a washer on that razor is it just to apply a bit more pressure to the safety bar??

I try to remember to put a washer on all my razors now. It's just to stop the head of the razor getting marked when the handle is screwed on. A very cheap way to protect my razors. Cheers. Kevy 👍

M5 plastic, I ordered 10pcs fm China n they shipped, nvr thought they wud... If one only chooses 1 razor, the DE89 would be one of them (How much btr are those new extravagant new ones?). Was told they use same chroming firm as RR does, it speaks for itself, can see. Myself stopped buying new stock, am reducing my stock of blades, soaps, guess takes 5yrs... A dilemma. Cheers.
