Nel suo repertorio è stato, e forse lo è ancora, il numero uno

I will always remember being at his Met debut in L’Italiana in Algeri. What a thrilling night.

Perfect coloraturas and the best breathing technic I've ever seen for a male singer (he sometimes sings 25 sec on one breath).

These kind of voices tend to loose their color and become “white” in their colorlessness ( not racial) over time . One can see; or rather hear this also with Florez. This is not detract from the artist. Honestly the excerpts from the recital show a more individual instrument than is heard in his Rossini .

Pitch too. With that type of pushed vibrato, what is the exact pitch?

Even in his later performances, Blake always retained all the colors of his voice. These sorts of things are technical and not inherent. Vibrato may loosen a little with age (Corelli, even Pavarotti) but of course, a wobble is a different matter.
