Hey Auto Dad, I really enjoy your videos with the Z3. I just bought one resently, and i found great inspiration in your different configurations. You were great at explaining how to replace the radio, speakers og tweeters, and it could be even better if you would include some details on how you wired it all together. Maybe just a detailed tour of your head-unit, amplifier and subwoofer configuration (ports/inputs). Cheer.

I just bought a brand new Rockville 12" sub for $47.99 free ship and new in the box. Its freakin AMAZING. Gonna need an install kit. Basically 3 wires. Power, ground, and remot turn on and I am through!!!!

This has the amp built in. You can purchase them separately but you do need an amp to run a sub

I had that sub in my 2005 Sebring convertible. Sounds WAY better standing up, facing backward. I laid it down when I needed the trunk space.

you should try porting it thru the cabin, make a hole somewhere but make it look clean, it will be night and day difference

It actually sounds pretty good. I had mine installed on a newer model Lexus IS. Had them place it in the trunk. It thumps and bumps and does everything I need it to do. No complaints so far.

Hard to tell the bass in the video but the highs sound great!! If the wife is yelling must be decent especially for the 120 bucks thanks for the video.

@@812racing I have since then upgraded my system but it did good for the price. Not obnoxious and not very loud. I recommend it for someone wanting to hear the extra bass in a song rather trying to be one of those kids in a high school parking lot. I had it turned down low to be in fact cause it was compact in my little 90 model Miata lol. You get what you get with it and was happy with it until I upgraded to a competition setup.

Thinking of purchasing this as my first sound system. I like bass but not incredibly loud to where mirrors shake or my trunk farts but just ENOUGH. IS this 1 12inch good enough you think?

Everyone is different are so are trunks. My truck is very small, too small in fact for this unit. It is not competition, but I think it does good for the price tag.

It really comes down to how you set up the settings on the amps and head unit. Most people try to make them loud and obnoxious, a good system should be felt more than heard. Just keep your gain down, your frequencies low, input lo, phasing on and the "loud" setting on the head unit turned off. It's usually pretty obvious who has a properly set up radio vs those who are looking for attention. You'll feel the ground shaking next to my car but really won't hear much bass *Edit* the above comment is not the speaker/box/ amp unit covered in this video

I have one in a 15 pax shuttle and it sounds good for the cost

Would you by chance have dimensions on it? I wanna mount it to the back of the seat so I can fold them down..I definitely have a bigger trunk then you just not sure if it will make it

Not sure if the Z3 has the battery in the truck or under the hood.. but, you always want the fuse close to the battery... also, the shorter the ground the better. Its always recommended to not go anything longer than 12"... just fyi

It is a powdered subwoofer meaning it has a built in amplifier in the enclosure

? for ya'll - on the Rockville RV12.1C 600w 12 inch. and others like it. I know you use the RCE out ports on a pioneer Stereo to connect to the RCA inputs on the amp, But do you not use the RCE outs on the amp unit to connect the amp to the sub that are there to use?, Do we just use the regular type speaker wire you strip to run from the amp to the sub speaker?

Rca goes to input rca on amp and speakers go to the output wires on the amp

Hey I have a question. How does the guard in front of the woofer affect the audio? I’ve had subs before but none with the guard. Does it impact the amount of sound/bass from it?

It is going to depend on your entire setup. To donit right you need to run RCA cables from the head unit back to the amp and then speaker wires to the subs

@@AutoDad I came across these and wanted to look them up to see how well they was for that price. The stock speakers in my truck isn't all to good and wanted to get something with a little thump along with some new door speakers.

I think I blew mine today lol but idk if my door speakers too but turned the off the sub n they was good only when I turned the sub back sounded like the music was skipping like a scratchy CD 😂

I'm actually about to buy a powered sub going to pay more probably Alpine or Rockford Fostage I have a 2012 Ford Taurus speakers barely can handle bass and to add stereo is like double the price extra wiring or something..talking 400 just for parts to updrage to aftermarket so I'm going to run factory probably under seat if possible

Lol... 1200 watts.... more like 350. And the sub doesnt even get that low. Do your research people just because it says max power doesnt mean it can take max power. Rms is what you should look for. Watts = amp×voltage, that sub can only take 25 amps before the fuse blows. 14.4×25=360. Anything over 360 watts will ruin that sub.

It would sound better if you stand it up right and face the subwoofer towards the back of the car it will throw the bass towards the front of the car

Man... Thats NOT the correct box nor near the airspace u need. Plus in a car, subs face backwards. Also wires are never supposed to be longer than necesarr. Still skeptical bout powered subs. Seems more to go wrong.

Absolutely not I got suckered in by the cheap price and the supposed good initial reviews on KZread I didn't have 20 hours of play time on my PA system before the amp blew out and was unrepairable

Nothing against the video! Great video! However, don't buy rockville people! They don't care about their product so why should you! I have one currently installed and it hasn't worked in months. Customer service says the same thing every time - "Sorry about that, we'll look for a replacement part.." Several conversations and that is the jist of every conversation. So when it dies, you'll be out $200.

I know I’m two years late. But throw that boss amp in the trash man. Get a pioneer amp if you’re on a budget or if not something better, and you will get a MUCH better output. That amp doesn’t even come close to the output it claims. And the sound quality it produces is absolutely crap. I’m telling you from experience. If you get a more reputable brand amp, your speakers will produce sound you didn’t even know they could
