9:39 - the moment I was waiting for - Hex bit holder that can close while loaded with larger standard double sided Hex bits! Also 7:07 big shout-out - no need for thumbnail to quickly open the saw tool which while important is rarely used by most EDC MT users.

Thank you for the comment and the view. I agree the standard hex bit holder is great and the best selling point for the tool in my opinion. As far as the saw, it is not needed most of the time (I would never use it) but it is a negative point that it does not come out easy. I am going to try to review the Flissa Wave clone this week. I already have it in my possession, just need to get around to it. It should be a slightly improved version but we will see. Thank you once again.

@@universalguru171 you're welcome I make repair videos and the nice thing about EDC is it's a nice small but growing community and you don't have to be a big channel to contribute real value by going through a tool carefully and finding some strengths and weaknesses that may be missed in a larger mainstream video it brings real value to the person watching it and trying to make a decision that really has specific needs. Recently I started carrying the Ozark Trail multi tool for $10 the main problem is it needed some reworking with the Dremel Stone because it was so hard to get it to lock out but once I did a little grind down loosened the screws a little bit and wire brushed and did a light grinding on a number of corners on the pliers that were little sharp it's a beautiful tool and it's really light you don't even know what's on your belt of course it lacks a hex bit driver but sometimes you can't have it all

@@pcofranc Awesome. I will be posting the Flissa 16 in 1 multi-tool tomorrow so look out for that. I think it is actually better than the Rocktol by a little bit but also cost less.

If/when the needle nose pliers start getting loosygoosey on you with some side to side action you can widen the pivot pin alittle with a center punch about 1/8" off the edge of the pivot. 4 light punches on the side of the pivot that moves will tighten it back up.

Man i couldn't believe the price increase on the wave, I bought mine in 2015 around the price point you mentioned. Thats crazy. Leatherman obviously needs some healthy competition. Of course I think they are the best you can buy but damn

Indeed. The price jump was insane and they really hurt their own business because many people cannot justify the expense. Most cannot even justify Leatherman's cheaper options.

Their manufacturing standards aren't even competitive anymore. They've gone downhill hard.

If someone can't afford a leatherman, you can find them used cheap in hawkshops and kijiji. I hope one day a american companie can rise and challenge Leatherman. Thanks for the Video, I haven't seen this one yet.

I own the Flissa and also bought this one which I returned. The Flissa had much better quality build feel. The side ways play is not good for a multitool. Also even after adjusting the tools still would not operate smoothly. I also bought a 6x2mm magnet to put inside the bit holder, now it will hold any bit regular or double sided securely.

The flissa tool opening was really stiff for me, maybe I received a defective unit.

I own the Flissa and I can confirm the Rocktol has inferior scissors compared to the Flissa. Also I always keep the screwdriver bit with the Phillips facing outward, as sometimes the flathead end will interfer with the plier head.

I originally thought they would be the same or comparable. It is funny that the Rocktol actually goes for more on Amazon which inspired the purchase to go with the Rocktol.

It's handles are titanium plated which just means an extra coating on top of the 3CR13... I doubt it actually adds any extra strength. Yours needs to be returned while you still can. All the blades should be easy to open with one hand without a break in. It's common for QC issues with these clones where they put the wrong washer or the detent hole is not machined correctly. If any of the inside tools are hard to get out, that's an issue with the machining of the frame again. I would just return it if that happens. Also, there should be a decent ridge at the bottom of the saw teeth that prevents it from going as deep as yours does again reason to return it.

All multi tools have a slight amount of play if they didn't you couldn't open the tool,and yes Leatherman has play to,and as to the saw blade teeth they saw like hell and do not get stuck,it's the same tooth design victornox uses,the rocktol is the closest clone of the Leatherman wave with one huge improvement the 1/4" bit driver an endless amount of different bits can be used and can be bought at any tool store for a reasonable price,that's something Leatherman needs to understand they have priced there product out of reach to most people and the quality is no better than rocktol

Yes... I think I did the math in reverse calculating about 40% of the raised price, meaning 40% of 120. I often do that without thinking. But you are correct.

@@universalguru171 I wasn't trying correct you, tbh I was trying to say that they really went nuts with the prices. There is no way that steel and labor suddenly became twice as expensive in just a year (that is how long it took them to ramp up the prices).

And so with all these clones giving you almost the same product for a fraction of a cost and with a better bit driver, it really starts to draw customers away from Leatherman. How the mighty have fallen.

Great video. Awesome review! I have the Ozark Trail multi-force sold at Walmart which is a Leatherman wave clone. I absolutely love it and think that many of these clones are just as good if not better than the original.

There can be considered 3 generations of the wave the original, the 2nd gen released in 2004, and the current wave+ model which came out beginning of 2018. The original was a little longer and streamline. The Rocktol and Flissa shape match The 2nd gen and wave+, original also didn't have interior tool locks or an interior ruler. Tool shapes on the clones match that of the 2nd gen and + model. The original wave scissors were monsterous in size compared to the 2nd gen, wave+, and clone scissors. As far as the plier jaws, the original were a little more narrow, had a wider opening for nuts, and had smaller wire cutters, the 2nd gen added longer wire cutters and "softwire cutters", and the wave+ added replaceable wire cutters. Wave+ also added electrical crimpers, and some models had crimpers on the needle nose section

when I watch reviews on anything, I assume that person has used and tested everything about it. otherwise I can't consider it a review. it like 5 year old doing review on workings of a engine. try your tools out for a month and then do a review on what you like and don't like about the tool. that will provide the watcher with the knowledge to make a good decision when he shops. thank you

I also often inform those watching my channel about tools that I am a casual user and though I give a general test, I am not a hardcore user of my items like a person who uses tools everyday. I only use around the house for small things I need at the moment. Thank you for watching.
