Your assumption is right, I do a lot of strongman and powerlifting training. You're absolutely right though, it just felt like he was... Apologising (?) to her. Almost like he had something prove. I don't know how to articulate it properly but at the end of the day we all have different goals and he's obviously happy with where he's at so that's really great for him!
