Rockhounding The Tungsten Hills- A TREASURE TROVE OF COOL MINERALS!!! Bishop, CA

In this episode of Solomon's Vegas Adventures, Solomon, Anthony, James, Jose, and Madison rockhounded in the Tungsten Hills- an old mining district west of Bishop, CA, ripe with Abandoned Tungsten Mines that still yield a slough of cool minerals.
The crew went to the Tungsten Blue Mine, and found Scheelite (A Calcium Tungstate Mineral), Andradite Garnet, Calcite, Pyrite, Chalcopyrite, Bornite, Diopside, Wollastonite, Epidote, and more at the site. The Tungsten Blue Mine is located in a Skarn Deposit- and Solomon goes into more detail with that in the video.
The Tungsten Hills are located just west of Bishop, CA, off of US-395 en route to Yosemite from Las Vegas. The site is 4 1/2 hours from Vegas, but it is a great stop on the way to Yosemite.

When my family and I visited Inyo county, one of the highlights was this spot. We did not know about how interesting it was until we watched this video, and when we went it was a whole lot of fun. Thank you so much for giving us inspiration to seek out geology hot spots and for wonderful information! Please, keep making videos!

Enjoying your hounding vids. got into it form mountaining biking, which, might be a thing you should look into. It's really the best way to access the locations you keep going with all the walking, and the heat, etc. Keep it up!

Cool video. Nice explanation of the deposit. I've been to the Blue Mine several times. Have gotten some huge 3/4-1" garnet clusters from boulders on the tailings piles. The mine directly across is the Jack Rabbit Mine. Same stuff, but not as pretty as the Blue Mine. The green crystals you said were diopside, are you sure they aren't epidote? I have lots of specimens from an outcrop just before the Tungsten Blue Mine and always thought they were epidote. The outcrop produces beautiful, big specimens. Off to Dish Hill. Wish me luck.

Hello, I am a fellow rockhound and I have what I believe are some amazing finds I've collected here in California. It would be great if we could connect, and I could get your advice on what these minerals are. Thanks for your time!
