Started watching your videos a few weeks ago - fascinating! I have a grandson who is 12 years old he loves rocks. We have an above ground swimming pool with gravel around the deck area when Declan comes over you will find him under the deck looking at rocks. My shop area has become a staging area for his finds; he tells me I must keep all of them. I cut images in coins as a hobby and use a 3# tumbler with stainless steel media and #910 burnishing compound to remove the burrs and soften the edges. I purchased another tumbler (3#) just for his use with a few various grits to encourage him in his love for rocks, but, I would like to purchase some books to help him in collecting. We live in Northern Illinois about 90 miles due north of Chicago what do you suggest? I want to help develop his passion (keeps him from video games) and reduce the stone pit in my shop. Thanks in advance for your help.

4:49 isn't that the fossilized impression of some organism (like some type of coral or sea cucumber or something)? That "roundish" group of lines that don't run quite parallel to each other... It might be a natural occuring rock formation in nature... But it looks too "organic" to be a natural formation on the rock... It looks like the partial imprint of some type of organism.

9:08 that would be funny if that was dinosaur skin... And you just found one of the rarest fossils in the world and you just threw it on the ground... If that isn't a natural occuring rock formation in nature... Then there is not too many things it could be. That looked like scale impressions. Dinosaur skin fossils are like one of the rarest fossils that you can find... Other than finding like fossilized feather impressions from a dinosaur. Skin and feathers obviously don't fossilize well and they are incredibly rare to find.
