Rockford Fosgate Punch 201s Amplifier

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Picked this amp off of ebay mainly for the end caps. Figured I could use the end caps and sell the amp cheap. Turns out I sold the amp I was intending to use the end caps with Oh well. Besides the end caps having some corrosion issue it's not a bad little amp overall.

I also bought one of those it looks brand new for really cheap and hooked it up one day when I was running them all on the test bench to make sure they worked and was super impressed with the sound quality that came out of that I am on the same speaker that I had everything else tested on. That one in the 500 X were my two favorites out of probably 10 different apps including the 800a2 360a2 The newest one I just got my hands on is a 600.5 605 channel I can’t find a video or anything on that thing it’s the model behind this when it was black still. If you came across one of those I’m trying to figure out the value and if it’s any good

Not that familiar with the previous series of amps like the 600.5. Those 5 and 6 channel amps have their place for collectors but they seem to be hit and miss. I know the B&G style 5 channel amp runs around $200-$250 so I would assume that the newer version would run similar in cost. Just depends on the day and if there's a buyer. :)

What are your thoughts on the 750s? Will it play 2 dvc 4ohm subs wired at 2 ohms or blow them?(power acoustik gothic 12s rated at 1250 rms)

I owned a 750s and when I compared it to the 250.2 I sold, I wasn't overly impressed. I'm not a fan of that style amp tho personally but that's just me. As for running your subs...I'm sure it will but it's not recommended. The cost of amp repairs now days is getting higher and higher like the cost of gas. Eventually that might be reflected in shipping costs as well. A 750s will only do around 1000 watts rms so your subs, if 1250 rms each, will be under powered.

Have you bench tested this amp? Was wondering about what it would actually do

I have not. If I had to guess I would say it's probably around a 250-300 watt amp at 4 ohms bridged.

The 201S came out in 2003 according to the Rockford Fosgate knowledge bass section of their page. Looks like all the S and X series came out then.

You know the specs on an 801s? Can it go 1 ohm?

Here is the link to the manual. As for it being 1 ohm stable, no. People will tell you that they ran their amp at 1 ohm in the Arizona sun every day for ten years and never had a problem with it. That may be true but not everyone is that lucky. The older RF amps were never rated or recommended to be ran at 1 ohm anything. 2 ohm stereo or 4 ohms bridged is what they are rated for. As for power, these amps were pretty conservative IMO. Being a 801s you are probably looking at maybe 900 watts at 4 ohms. Dynamically maybe a little more?? I don't typically collect or mess with this style of amp as it''s too new for my collection but I have heard good things. www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/library/2003/3_amplifiers/man4359b_punch2ch_man.pdf
