I don't think Rocketman got the appreciation it deserved at all. I can't imagine a movie about Elton John without a fantastic musical element on it. The entire movie is a masterpiece, to the point that no matter how many times you watch it, you will always find something new if you look closely. Everything is astonishing, from the acting to the costume design. I would've loved to see notes on Bennie and The Jets (and every single musical number in this movie for that matter, but I can understand why they chose this scene), I still don't understand how it wasn't an instant success compared to other less-impressive biographical movies that overpassed it in box office.

SHUT UP HEATHER I loved it as well. But, I also was discovering a lot of Elton John music that I knew but had no clue was his. But, Tarron did a beautiful job and made me fall in love with him.

The movie is fantastic, I think that the message is so much powerfully than the one in Bohemian Rhapsody. The movie goes beyond Elton John’s life, is about accepting who you are, overcome oneself, being a better person in spite of adversity, and forgiveness of the past. The music is amazing, Taron’s performance is incredible as well, I really think it deserves more recognition

It's gonna get underappreciated because Bohemian Rhapsody still has a bad taste in everyones mouth for movies about 70s rock legends. Sad but true. This movie should be nominated for everything, it's fantastic.

IT Richie Tozier fan joker will for sure get something; it’s gotten tons of attention and praise. but this movie really does deserve attention. it’s beautifully created

You can put the wig on but you can’t take it off - Taron Egerton 2019

The heartbreaking change of expression was definitely the highlight of the film; shows how everyday some people actually do that, carry both that much pain and sorrow, yet so much courage. Taron did such a great job of showing that.

Elton & Taron are now good friends which is lovely. I remember extremely well what Elton looked like when he was Taron's age & there's definitely a likeness …. & he can act & sing!! Elton was adamant that Taron play him in the film & he was absolutely perfect for the role.

@@edabakb I dunno, every analyst I've read has said Taron has some of the strongest chances to get a nomination. Right up there w Adam Driver, Joaquin Phoenix, and De Niro. Although I definitely dont think he'll win (any other year and this would be the winner) I have a feeling it's either gonna go to De Niro or Joaquin (I massively hope it's the former however)

Remember people, Oscars are not won through great actors, for Taron is phenomenal, but the Oscars are won through money

This will unfortunately get steamrollered by Joker at awards season, but Rocketman was genuinely an amazing film.

10:36 is such a heartbreaking photo. You can clearly see how much pain Elton is in, however he pushes through regardless. The scene in rocketman captures that perfectly. It’s just such a shame when you think about the fact it’s all actually true :(

im so glad they broke down this scene. its my favorite one, a great transition to show the zero amount of rest elton had gotten in between the hospital and the dodgers i love it so much

The fact that Taron was completely snubbed at the Oscars still makes me mad, his performance was incredibly brilliant and yet so underrated!

itsflowerside Bernie gave Taron a bracelet for his 30th birthday. He’s been wearing it since early November. Taron talked about it at a Q&A screening that Taron, Dexter and Bernie were at.

Usually in bigger films they'll give the footage to a trailer house (a company who specifically make trailers) who will then cut a trailer. You're right, it doesn't feel right that the people who created the film don't always get a say in how it's marketed. Suicide Squad is an example of this process going very wrong, with the trailer making the film look like something it wasn't

Lafynk Then again, i think the director should be most involved in the edit, because that is where films can become masterpieces or flops. If i was a director i wanted to have a say in every way the film is being showed, but that is just my take on it, no pun intended

Directing and marketing are two completely different beasts. How many times have you seen a trailer and not even seen those scenes in the movie? Or... they show only the best scenes in the trailer and the rest of the movie is crap? I've seen both too many times to count. Marketing only cares about getting people into the seats... the director wants to bring the best WHOLE movie to the audience.

love how seriously Taron took his role

This movie introduced me to the incredible story of Elton’s life, and I was surprised to find out that we had a lot in common. At least, I could find a lot of myself in him, which I wasn’t expecting, with us being generations apart and stuff. I hated Elton’s music before the movie, but I found out I liked it with Taron as a buffer in the movie, and then grew a taste for Elton’s music. I will never stop raving about this movie. It’s insanely great. His story is so moving. Despite everything he went through and what he put his body through, Elton survived, and now has everything he’s ever wanted: a husband, children, a family, and people who truly love him. So so inspiring.

Every time he grabs the bat and puts on a big show smile it does something to my heart and gives me chills. The transition is absolutely heartbreaking but done so well.

I liked this scene because it re-introduced ‘Rocketman’ in a different perspective for me. Before the movie I never thought of the song as bittersweet; it was always whimsical to me ( probably b/c I’ve listened to it since I was a child lol)

Rachel Auguste this topic is interesting, the way we perceive music (and everything really), how we connect, which emotions, memories... This song has always made me cry because of the melody.

One of my favourite movies of all time. Before this movie, I had no interest in music, I thought it was boring, bland and unoriginal. But then I watched this movie, it truly changed my life. I know that might sound like an exaggeration, but it genuinely opened my eyes to the world of music. Elton John is my favourite artist of all time and I truly believe he will remain so, thanks toy Taron, Dexter and the Rocketman team.

Same here music now and days is garbage. I loved eltons song I’m still standing and just started looking for more of his songs. He is now my favorite artist. They don’t make them like that anymore. And I love this movie so much it’s my #1 ✨💞

The shot of Elton walking out looking completely crushed and then turning on his face the second he grabs the baseball bat, and walks out onto the stage like a robot is one of my favorites in any move. I was so amazed by it in the theater

Taron truly is a remarkable actor going above and beyond to become his character. He understood so much about Elton so that he could really embody the message that Elton wanted to display. I adore this man and everything he stands for - an absolutely outstanding actor

I love things like this. We as theater goers take so much for granted. The creative mind of Dexter Fletcher must be a very crowded place. Well done TE and DF

I was never a big Elton fan. But this movie is AMAZING. Because of this movie and how much I enjoyed it, I have now been discovering the music and life of Elton with enthusiasm.

I would hope Taron at least gets a nomination for Outstanding Leading Role at the Academy. But politics as they are, they wouldn't award another UK actor the prize for being "another" British Rockstar. But, what Taron and Dexter have done is given a true and vibrant emotional reality to a human story that as we lived through it, was very enigmatic and mona lisa-esque. And even today, not until this movie was Elton's inner journey fully accessible, nor the miracle that his talent alone seemed to keep him afloat as any guardian angel. For that, both Actor and Director deserve fulsome praise.

I just love Taron Egerton. They are really campaigning for the Oscar. He's been such a champ through all the press he's done for this movie.

Just remember that Rami Malek won an Oscar for lip syncing, and some how beat COOPER, but Taron won’t get love. He was awesome as Elton

Ok, Taron was amazing but don't always compare to Rami Malek !!! It depend of the other actors in front of him.... ans Rami was pretty nice too !!! And he sang too, his voice was mixed with Marc Martel's !

It’s time for you to get pissed at the Academy I’m pissed too I saw Rocketman in theaters twice and thought that Taron Egerton should get a nomination his performance is Oscar worthy and I kind of suspected that since rocket man was released so early in the previous year that the Academy would Snub it and Taron

sometimes i get really really angry that dexter didn't direct bohemian rhapsody in its entirety. what a masterpiece that would've been.

Clearly the best movie i saw in 2019, and one of the best i ever saw. It captured everything i always wanted to see about a musician, perfectly blended the movie/musical contrast, the actors were brilliant, the shots were magnifiscent. And oh boy i never thought Taron could make me cry like i did. Thanks for this, to all the people involved in making this movie

this was my favorite scene in the movie, the ballet part in front of the window was so striking and beautiful.

My uncle saw me his movie when it first came out. He told me it gave him a whole different kind of respect for Elton John and his music. Personally, Rocketman is my favourite movie. Taron did a great job as always. That singing voice is just phenomenal.

it was a this sequence in the movie that I realised this movie was awesome

when I went to see Elton in Auckland he had literal pneumonia and cried when he physically could not go on and had to end early. This movie is an incredible tribute to immortalise an amazing man.
