Rocket stove surf & turf - Jet Wood Log - bushcraft fire
Ойын-сауық
I am always intrigued by all the different and creative campfire techniques people come up with, especially those that create efficient flames to cook on. There are actually several methods for creating a fire from a single log-As you know, I already made a video about the Swedish torch few weeks ago. Today, I am sharing a similar technique, known as a rocket log or Jet Stove.

See a lot of comments about the stove, but nobody mentioning that beautifully seasoned skillet. Cast iron is by far the best when used correctly.

*"What, no mushrooms!"* They call it different things here but, it's another great way to utilize your wood, similar principle to a "Swedish torch" in that it uses one log for the fire instead of a stacked fire. More efficient and great for cooking, even better than the torch!? 😀 Splitting a log, vertically, into four or six segments, depending upon size of log (you don't have to split all the way down, hold open with sticks) and a fire started on top will let you burn one log for a *very* long time, generating light and heat enough to warm several people around it without the smoke of a normal camp fire, a necessity in areas where wood is a limited resource and also great for cooking. 😀

@Cynddelw

this is technically a rocket stove. Swedish torches allow air in from the bottom and sides. This uses the rising heat of the burning wood to make a vacuum and force fresh air through the touch hole causing a draft.
@MtnBadger

This is a variation on the "Swedish Torch" (one of several names) improvised camp stove. It is usually made by splitting the log into 3 or 4 longitudinal sections through the center, knocking off the central corners, and binding the sections together loosely enough to allow the airflow the side bore here does.
