I don't think I have uploaded for ages on here, apologies for that. I hope everyone is well and staying safe at home, as I am.
During the covid19 related downtime, I thought I'd have a go at a bit of a response to Elton doing a version of this from his house for the One World concert. I like the slightly slower, moody rhythmic piano he plays on the later versions of this song, so I have let that influence my playing here.
I'm using my Roland RD2000, programmed to replicate the sound of Elton's piano. The video quality isn't great, it's just my P20 Pro cellphone's front camera.
As usual, I'm using Elton's live piano sound - my recreation of the sound we are used to hearing from his piano on stage. As well as the sound itself, it is essential to understand and play to Elton's signature feel and style, which I try hard to do in all of my videos.
Playing like Elton John is not an easy thing to do convincingly, and I have studied for pretty much my whole musical career to get it right, that said there's always work to be done.
I am using my Roland RD2000 piano here, however as you will see from my other content I have an RD1000 also which I use for EJ content.

Elton brought the stage to his back garden using all of the equipment when playing live.

Kind of, he was using JBL wedges, an SM58 and an Avant Grand, sounded like his rack was there though.

How you likening that RD 2000? Definitely a lot lighter then it’s big brother. So glad they put all the old rd 1000 piano samples in it. Great performance

Hi, thanks for the comment. I think the RD2000 is a superb instrument. The keyboard action is exceptional and it does exactly what I need it to do. I don't take my RD1000 out of the house or use it for shows!
It isn't many piano players that have a tattoo!

Thank you very much for your comment. I'm humbled. I'm using a combination of RD1000 piano sounds and Yamaha Motif PowerGrand are the main two, with some judicious EQ and FX. Playing in Elton's style brings out the best in the patches.
Downgrade from RD-1000 to RD-2000? That's a let down...

Not really, the RD1000 is just out of shot, and the RD2000 is a wonderful instrument.
