When my daughter was 10 years old her fiddle group from Canada went on “tour” to Scotland. They were so very warmly and when they had played everything in their set they stood there not quite knowing what to do next. So they played Scotland the Brave. The audience went wild, their teacher cried and my daughter said “Mum, I have never heard such loud clapping.” Every kid on that stage could have sprouted wings to soar at that very moment. None of them (or their parents) will ever forget that moment. The Scottish people were so generous and welcoming and happy to share a wee bit of their culture with a group of elementary school kids. It was awesome!

Scotland, that small country to the north of England, sharing the same damn island as the largest empire the world has ever seen, has not only resisted the English for centuries, but has forced England to sign a treaty on equal terms in 1707 andaintained their identity and language ever since.

@Roy Dunn You can watch my KZread channel. Scots play the Great Highland Pipes. The player of the bagpipes plays the pipes in a standing position by blowing into the mouthpiece. This type of bagpipe is generally played in Scotland. This type of bagpipe is usually played outdoors due to their loud, somewhat high-pitched sound. Uilleann (Irish) pipes are made up of a bag, bellows, chanter, three drones, and three regulators. The player of these pipes is seated when playing. The elbow is used to pump air into the billows. These pipes are usually played indoors. They have a quieter, softer sound than other bagpipes.

If Scotland with the PM Surgeon can get the Independence than all Scottish can get a new chance to come back and I for me I cam say : WELCOME. The same for the others if they change idea they are welcome too. I really do not understand why brexit? I love this but I'm sitting here in tears because my late partner would have too. He was from New Zealand and loved Scotland. He taught himself to play the pipes 20 years ago, he passed away suddenly last February, leaving me with 5 sets of various bagpipes and all the bits bobs and paraphanalia that goes with them. He confused tourists, got mentioned on a radio show once by a lady who was amazed to see someone walking down the road in Wales playing HIghland pipes.

@@stringer-ik1pc Bagpipes exist all over the world but got to admit the Scots really developped them and whisky or would that be whiskey. Who cares! Brilliant music and brilliant drink. By the way I have both Scots and Irish blood. I get emotional when I hear the Welsh singing their anthem. Must be my celtic blood.
