Across two decades, Lita Ford’s indelible vocals and masterful guitar work would take the world by storm, from the inception of the all-femme rock outfit The Runaways to a prolific glam-metal solo career that cranked up the style and showmanship to match her evolving tones. Cowriting and performing alongside the likes of Nikki Sixx and Ozzy Osbourne, Lita was blazing trails through a carefully threaded needle of pop and metal sensibilities. Following the release of 1995’s Black, her sixth full-length record, she’d take a hiatus from music for nearly two decades. Conquering motherhood in the interim, she’d reemerge in 2009, axe in hand, to continue the sonic odyssey she’d begun, releasing multiple albums and participating in a laundry list of creative ventures that include penning an autobiography. Suffice it to say, there’s a whole heap of life, music, and stories to be told, so Sweetwater’s reaper of riffs, Nick Bowcott, caught up with the legendary Lita Ford. Check it out!

Stop being sexist, with this "Which iconic femme-rock icons do people need to talk about". Smart people do not care about gender they focus on the artistry. It is not 1980 anymore.

I can relate to Lita saying that Rock N Roll saves her every day, Rock N Roll helped me through all my bad times, and yes, picking up a guitar and just playing it helps a lot too, it is very cathartic.
Lita is one of my all-time favorites
I love Lita! God Bless her at age 65 and still rocking! I'm pushing 60 and will play guitar till I'm dead.
Lita and Doro, the Queen's of Rock and metal, still going strong! Love Lita, 💗 ! I saw her a few years ago and her energy level is off the charts! She obviously takes care of herself, her voice sounds the same . She's an inspiration! ❤❤❤
So happy to see that Lita is still with us and rockin out, Good Onya Lita!!!!!
I had the pleasure of meeting this beautiful woman absolutely amazing she gave me so much inspiration.
Been a fan of the Runaways since I was a teen. Was very fortunate and honored to have played with Lita when I auditioned for her for the Stiletto album tour. Didn't get the gig but was down to the final 8 and she was wonderful as a person
She is a goddess of rock, no doubt! 🎸
Them heels on a racetrack, dedication and poise. What a lady.

Rock N Roll should never be about gender, it should be all about getting up onstage and giving it a go in my book.
Nothing against Lita Ford, but the First Lady of rock is Grace Slick! Hands down!

Grace as a vocalist, definitely. How many women do you know, actually know who Richie Blackmore, Tony Iommi and Michael Schenker are??

Jennifer Batten has Lita in her rear view mirror. Don’t take a victory lap just yet.
