FYI, dewa 19 still together in one band, only they don't have a permanent vocalist. The vocalist you see in this video has separated from Dewa 19 since 2013. And now if Dewa 19 wants to go on tour, they will collaborate with various famous Indonesian vocalists and even do it with famous foreign vocalists too.

dewa's albums are evolved. in the first album they had pop genre. in the last album they had rock genre. in every album they used different types of influences from another great musicians. so it is interesting to learn the evolution of dewa's albums. and try to listen songs that written by dhani (dewa's leader) for another musician. i recomended unique song tittled "pertama" or "satu yang tak bisa lepas" by one of the best indonesian female singer reza artamevia. thanks for appreciating indonesian musics

Dewa 19 still exists till today, the band is actually formed in 1986, the band had a lots of member changes since the first album. Dewa 19 is actually an acronym of the band's original members name, Dewa is stands for. D: Dhani (Keyboard & guitar & 2nd vocal) E: Erwin (base guitar) W: Wawan (Drums) A: Andra (lead guitar) & Ari Lasso (Vocalist) 19: when they formed this band, they were 19 years old. Dhani is the leader of the band, he composed and writes almost all of the songs of Dewa 19 from the first album until their last album. The changing of members 1. Wawan, Wawan left the band in 1993 after Dewa released their first album. He left because he wanted to continue his study in college. 2. Wong Aksan, when Dewa 19 released their 3rd album on 1995, Dewa introduced their new drummer, Wong Aksan, but Aksan later got fired by Dhani in 1998 because Aksan's style of drummin play was too jazzy. 3. Ari Lasso, Ari Lasso is the first vocalist of Dewa 19, however during their glory days from 1993 - 1998, Ari Lasso had been using drugs, and was heavily addicted during that time. Due to the condition of his health condition that concerns the continuation of the band, Dhani who are the best friend of Ari Lasso, convinced Ari Lasso that during Ari Lasso recovering from his heavy drugs addiction, Dewa will use a new concept, which is using two vocalist, but Ari Lasso disagree with the offer, and after a long consideration about the future of his health conditions and his career, Ari Lasso decided to leave the band in February 1999, during the time being, Dewa was working on their 6th studio album called Bintang Lima (The Five Stars), but before Ari Lasso quit the band, he already recorded 5 songs for the album, and a year later in 2000, he made a surprise return by appearing in a video clip song from a debutan female solo singer. And after a support from his long time buddies from Dewa 19, Ari Lasso released his first solo album in 2001, and his album went to a major success and since then he was the one of the most popular and successful male solo artist in Indonesia. And he also announced in June 2001 that he has officially cleared and healed from his drugs addiction. 4. Wizztyo Nugros (Tyo), Tyo joined the band in 1999 after Dhani fired Wong Aksan, and become one the best drummer in Dewa 19's band history, in 2003, after returning from a concert tour with Dewa in Japan, Tyo suffered a car accident and he was unable to joined the band for a while, but later he joined the band in 2004. In 2007, Tyo reached his breaking point when he was diagnosed with a knee injury, and after a long consideration, he decided to leave the band in 2007 to focusing on his recovery. 5. Erwin Prasetya, he was the first base guitar player of Dewa 19, he also composed some songs for Dewa, some of the songs become a hit songs in the 90's, but in late 90's, Erwin was also addicted to drugs just like his friend Ari Lasso, but Erwin got lucky, he got support from his band members, and he decided to take a break from the band, until his health returned to normal, when he was healed, he returned to the band, but as a additionl player, later in 2001, he was officially joined the band again, after Dewa 19 released their 7th album on 2002, Erwin suddenly announced his resignation from Dewa after the band played on the concert of the world cup final in a local stadium in Jakarta. Unfortunately on May 2nd, 2020, Erwin passed away due to his sickness, and his body was returned to his hometown in Surabaya where he was buried there by his family. 6. Elfonda Mekel (Once). Once was a friend of Tyo, when Once was offered by Dhani as the new vocalist of Dewa 19, Andra, the guitarist, disagree, but later he finally agreed with the decision, and Once finally chosen as the next vocalist for Dewa 19, and Ari Lasso who was the first vocalist of Dewa, gave his blessing to Once to replace him. And ever since that, he becomes one of the most best vocalist in the Indonesian music industry with his powerful voice. Once left the band in 2010 because he wanted focus on his solo career. 7. Yuke, Yuke join the band as the new base guitarist since 2003, he was also an additional player to Dewa in 2002, before he was chosen as the new base guitarists for Dewa 8. Agung, Agung joined the band in 2008 when Dewa held a concert in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as the new drummer of Dewa replacing Tyo Nugros who was forced to left the band due to his knee injury. That was a little bit recap of Dewa 19 member changes.

Dewa 19 is one of the best band and legend in indonesia, they still going on, but right now their vocalist is empty seats, they use different singer to sing their song, but sometimes they are using their ex vocalist too, weird maybe but it proves the relationship is good between them 👍

But if you listening them more, they're music sounds like middle eastern music with early 20' rock style. little facts about DEWA19. Are you ready :D . The lead vocal ( ONCE. Yes, his name is ONCE :D ) has left the band since 2011 (or 2012, i'm not sure but yeah around those times :D ). since then DEWA19 still touring in indonesia but with their previous vocalist (Ari Lasso) so the tour is named Dewa19 feat.Ari Lasso. Last year DEWA19 did a tour with ONCE as a REUNION TOUR because the demand from fans are huge for that formation, which made the ticket for the reunion concert was very expensive but still SOLD OUT everywhere they went. The tour was stoped on march 2020 due to Covid.... . . Now they do a free streaming concert on KZread almost every week but Not with ONCE or ARI LASSO because they are too expensive and the Sponsor for the streaming can not pay that much. So as a solution they work with a 3rd winner from 2014 Indonesian idol singer ( Virzha ). Even though VIRZHA is not as good as ONCE, but fans still love to watch the concert because of the charisma of the rest of the band member... so now we have DEWA19 feat. VIRZHA... I personally think that this formation is inspired by QUEEN feat. Adam Lambert. Because the band leader (AHMAD DHANI) really idolized Queen. There was a vlog where AHMAD DHANI ( dewa19 leader) cried a happy tears when he attended one of QUEEN's concert in Singapore. That's how much he idolized Queen. . . Aand a little further about the band leader AHMAD DHANI, He made a side project band Called THE ROCK (2006) which then later changed to T.R.IA.D (THE ROCK INDONESIA AHMAD DHANI).
