Rock Hudson: All That Heaven Allowed - Official Trailer

Film Synopsis: This intimate portrait of actor Rock Hudson celebrates his enduring legacy as a Hollywood icon who helped change the public perception of AIDS, forcing the world to sit up and pay attention to a disease too long ignored and stigmatised. Rock Hudson: All That Heaven Allowed explores the story of a man living a double life - one whose public persona was carefully manufactured by his handlers and orchestrated by a studio system which feared the potential career-ending discovery that he was privately living as a gay man. Through a combination of intimate interviews and exclusive archive material, this feature explores both the myth and the truth of Rock’s incredible, tragic yet inspiring journey.

I lived in San Francisco at that time , I never knew that Rock Hudson had problems getting care and getting back to the US from Paris because of his illness.... years later in "93 Rudolf Nureyev passed away in France after so many others..... but I did know back then at the time some families burned all the possessions of a family patient after they died because they were scared of AIDS being spread thru household items ......................I had so much respect for Elizabeth Taylor in those years ,being a spokesperson

Fun fact : a dear friend, sadly no longer with us, once worked at the Menger Hotel in San Antonio where Rock Hudson (and others) turned up regularly for encounters. He described him as "wishy washy", a lovely term don't you think? (The Menger Hotel is next to the remains of the famous Alamo in San Antonio.)

Rock Hudson's death, due to AIDS, was a huge shock to the entire world. If he could get it, then anyone could get it. I truly believe Rock Hudson's death and the fierce advocacy of Miss Elizabeth Taylor changed the course of HIV/AIDS treatment in this country. I was in high school, when Rock Hudson came out as HIV positive. I won't ever forget it. His death was not in vain. Miss Elizabeth Taylor's legacy is monumental.

Unfortunately medicine did not have the advantages back then like today. As a kid I remember when Magic Johnson was diagnosed with HIV. He still looks great.
