He's an old school Italian. Family first, always. I built a small house right next to my folks house on their acreage. They're in their 80's, and don't get around too well anymore. I'm close by to help look after them. Doing the best I can to keep them from going into an old folks home.

The most missed living guitarist in rock, along with Chris DeGarmo. Chris devoted his time to being a pilot but also made an album with his daughter, playing acoustic guitar and producing, calling themselves The Rue, and prior to that, a one-off Spys-4-Darwin. But Vito? Damn. We can only imagine what he might have done as a guitarist and composer.

I have the utmost respect for what Vito is doing for his family, I have been there myself while my mother battled stage 4 esophageal cancer for 20 months. I walked away from my career, my friends and everything I loved to care for my mom because that is what you do. He did it for his dad and now his mom and brother. I do, however, wish he would do an instructional video series teaching, using a ghost teacher to help him produce and direct videos to help those rabid fans like myself, learn from him the style and songs of his past, his influences, his practice routine do’s and don’ts because I know he said he hurt his hand from practicing too much and that is wisdom we could all use. He could teach us that are now older, how we could now become better players and possibly play stuff we haven’t heard before. I think he is one of the all time best, one of my top five players ever…EVH, Vito, Vai, Lynch and Jake E Lee (not saying Hendrix, Clapton, Page, Beck and players of their day weren’t amazing but when I was impressionable and influenced by music to play the guitar the top five were the guys who made me want to play). Also Reb Beach, Warren DiMartini, Nuno, Adrian and Dave from Maiden and so many others from that time but the top five for me were my guys and I would love these guys to do this type of thing, open their styles to younger players who never got to see them in action. I truly believe so many player from then think people do not care and I believe at some point people will give up and not care but while we can share your gifts (when you have time, family first). I was just thinking the other day that I wish EVH had really done something like that because it would have been like learning philosophy from Aristotle and Socrates or learning Architecture from Frank Lloyd Wright, art from DaVinci or Van Gogh or sculpture from Michelangelo etc I refer to Vito as the “Master of Melody” because in his rhythm and lead playing, they are both so melodic and the leads are like songs within a song and solos are like a second vocalist taking stage front. Vito, if you ever read these posts, please know we love and need your gifts to be shared but we also understand your priorities and have your back.

I actually disagreed no child should have to give up their life to care and look after their family members. That is what professionals are for. You get qualified people able to perform 24/7 care. Setting that up and providing that is indeed caring. These services are available for the elderly and sick. Many of us need these services as we get older. That’s what they are there for. Neither one of my parents would be very happy if I was to give up my life because they needed around the clock care. They would even allow me to do that. Vito’s situation and how he chooses to handle it is strange indeed.

After being called an “Eddie clone” in the 80’s and 90’s, I doubt he’d want to take that gig. He took a lot of stuff personally. The Eddie comparison, the death of hair metal, he just couldn’t deal with it and bailed. Too bad. The dude is absolutely brilliant. He should’ve just done some solo work or got into a heavier metal band to push through the 90’s. He could’ve pulled a Marty Friedman or something. He’s certainly got the talent. It’s a crying shame he dipped out.

Vito seems like a quiet person who keeps to himself. Hell, I would like to be able to walk down the street and not be mobbed for pics and autographs. What sucks is this: We'll never see Jason Becker play guitar again because he can't move a muscle in his body. We'll never see Vito Bratta play guitar again, because he just doesn't want to. But Vito, you don't need to get a band together. You don't need to go in the studio to make a record. You don't need to go out on the road and tour. You can upload a 5 minute video to KZread of you just noodling on guitar in your house once or twice a month. That would be enough to satisfy us fans. Nobody lives forever. It'd be a shame to have that talent and not use it to some degree. I was a huge VH fan, and admittedly, ONLY cared to listen to them. I didn't care about Randy Rhoads or any other "Guitar Gods" at the time. But YOU replaced EVH as my favorite player. Eddie is gone now. Please don't let Mane Attraction be the last thing we have from you.

Wow - a lot of negative comments here about Vito and him being done, washed up and that he probably can't play and how little girls on KZread can out play him... I would have to guess that most of these comments come from guys who don't play guitar or are not really any good themselves. Read the recent interview in GW and listen more closely - he claims to be playing and my guess is, knowing his level of previous mastery, he can play like no body's business and no YT girls would be out talenting him. For those of you negative commenters who apparently don't understand - this guy was at a very, very high level of playing and not just technique and speed put overall mastery of the guitar. I would love to hear some of these negative commenters play...

Sorry but after all this time...some1 needs to call Vito out bc Eddie sue as fuck not gonna do it...no excuse for him not at least release instrumental solo albums the way John Sykes does...N Vito can still play just local shows on weekend that U know would do good n not affect his family one bit.. For years it was his dad n now it his mom so what happens if GOD 4 his moms leaves this place? Then it bro or uncle?

Vito probably would feel stupid being 60 plus playing 80’s pop metal. Especially if he had to play with dingus Mike tramp. That’s a young mans music and why play it if you don’t need to money. But it would be cool if he did some instrumental music or classical or whatever he’s into now

Hell I would be happy if he would just do a couple cameos here and there...there are plenty of guys still playing from that era that would probably love to cover a White Lion tune and have Vito Bratta just waltz out to play guitar....the crowds would love it.

MANY ARTISTS ARE GONE AND HIS PLAYING IS A CUT ABOVE!! A GOOD CAUSE?? A LIVE AIDE CONCERT?? BIGGER BETTER THAN IN THE 80'S ?? ROCK ARTISTS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN IN FOR A GOOD CAUSE IN THE PAST??? THE MARKET IS HUGE FOR 80'S HAIR BANDS???

Trunk and Mike Tramp have been saying this for 20 years. There is nothing new here.

He wont return..time has passed ..he is almost 63 now and he has a lot to attain to, concerning his family. So...Vito is not only a wonderfull and caring human beinga but also a splendid musician. Great tapping great soloing so melodic and a true virtuoso. A serious composer too. We all would like to hear him again but he gave us a lot.....my best wishes to him......

I like Mr. Bratta playing but I do not White Lion so much. A new solo album will be great.

What does he live on? No disrespect but White Lion was a long time ago and even if Vito was frugal with his money you’d think his finances wouldn’t be to the point of retiring from the business 30+ years ago at such a young age. I hope he’s fine, great guitar player…
