At age 72 I am of the same generation as ABBA. I listen to this and I am young again. "Do I have it in me?" is a challenge to me as an old retired guy to live each day granted me to the fullest.

As a mediocre guitar player, I think it gave me some extra insight into the intracricy of their music, and it's absolutely stunning.. It's such a shame that they had this unearned stigma in the beginning of "You're an ABBA fan? haha" well, no-one's laughing now. People are finally realizing how fabulous their music is and proudly saying "You're damned right I am". And it's even more amazing that they're all in their 70s now and this new music is as good or even better than anything they've ever written. Looking forward to your reaction to Don't Shut Me Down. I'm 75 and yes, I'm a proud ABBA fan.... from the beginning.

The music press hated them at the time, but real musicians didn't. Ive heard that fans included Pete Townshend, Gene Simmons, Elvis Costello .. Led Zeppelin. Bands of the seventies knew ABBA were the genuine article and had great respect for them. Hell, Zeppelin recorded their final album in ABBAs studio in Stockholm in 1978. Led Zeppelin were hated by the press as well. Can you imagine being a music reporter and hating Zeppelin and ABBA ?? It was just insane, it's impossible to comprehend in retrospect how someone could be that badly calibrated in their musical intuition. I was around at that time and I am still baffled by it. Curious also that both ABBA and Zeppelin had their rightful status as truly original creative musicians properly reinstated within just a few years of each other. I was so happy to see that happen to both bands. Cheers 🍺

I grew up with parents playing ABBA like so many others in their late 40s today. I started buying Abba records myself around the Abba gold period in the early 90s. THAT was when Abba were still Young enough to get back on it and continue the Abba career with several more albums and a couple og world tours before calling it quits on new years eve 2000 when the members were 50-55 years old. That did not happen. Nothing 30 years ago, just Abba gold which sold 30 million worldwide and not doing a single new track. Well, at 71-76 years old they finally return with a new album and ten new songs. Inspirational. I am sure it will be good. The demand for another studio album will ve huge, but it will only happen if they really had fun doing voyage and feel up to it. The money factor will play zero % into a decision.

Their new songs are melancholy, sensational, magical and completely unreal wonderful. I myself am 60 years old and have been there from the beginning. They were unique when they made an impact and that keeps them. I still have all their LP and cassettes at my old turntable from that time. Legends never stop singing. ABBA has conquered the world again!! Imagine if everyone could preserve this warm feeling we feel at this moment and take it with us in our harsh world. Greetings from Sweden!

Frida is 76 I believe but she has kept her beautiful voice, it is just stunning. In fact the whole album is a master-class & Benny & Bjorn's writing style is beyond belief. No doubt u can tell it's an ABBA song. I think all bands have their own unique sound & of course they certainly do. This album should exceed all sales imaginable, it is just that good. Alot of fans will be over the moon with this album....& to quote an ABBA song, No doubt about it.

It is great to hear your perspective on this music. I've been a music teacher my whole life and never really listened to ABBA when I was growing up because I was a bit of a classical music snob. However, now, in my 60's, the entire world of ABBA has opened up to me and their old and new music is simply amazing. The craftsmanship of each of their tunes has so many layers to it that I can listen to it over and over and I can ALWAYS pick up something new. I would love to have you do a musical analysis of this piece and "Don't Shut Me Down." By the way, did you hear the vocals sung by Benny and Bjorn in the 2nd chorus ISHFIY? They are singing a completely different rhythm on the tonic in the tenor line. Didn't hear it until about the 10th listening. Thanks for such a perceptive musical analysis and reaction.

Great comment, from people with genuine enthusiasm for Abba's music. This is a fantastic Abba song, but I found that it grew on me over a few days rather than feeling like a banger from first hearing. The line "do I have it in me" touched me straight away, and the video of them (appearing to) appear on stage blew me away.

That "flute" sound that mimics the "Do i have it in me?"/"I still have it in me" song phrase is really a trademark into the 80:s Benny Andersson flutey "Motifs". It actually reminds me a lot of Björn and Bennys composition for "Gemini" with the song "Mio Min Mio". Just have listen to that flute line in that, probably for most, unknown song! kzread.info/dash/bejne/nZNpvKaOn6e1d8o.html Anyway a fantastic comback. Not only the melodies and production but also the extremely fitting and clever lyrics that give nods to the resurrection of ABBA in all kind of ways but can, as always, be interpreted in so many different other ways too. Clever, clever by Björn! Let's not forget that English isn't his first/native language!

Frida is born 1945 actually as Björn. Benny is born 1946 and Agneta 1950. I hope you notice that there is no autotune here with computor bettering of voices. Fridas mezzosoprano is great. I'm in the same age as Benny and I've seen them in the sixties in other groups. Benny in Hep Stars and Björn in Hootenanny Singers and Agneta and Frida as vocalists in different dansbands.

I REALLY hope that you could do a special video to specifically and fully disect I Still Have Faith in You musically and instumentally, together with the lyrical content. And maybe later do the same on Don't Shut Me Down...and..err.. maybe on the whole ABBA's new album when they come out guys?😃😍.. I love the simplicity of your expression in your videos, you're able to explain the technical aspects so simple that fans (who have no knowledge of musical technicality) are able to grasp and comprehend what you are trying to say and convey. It would be the best professional analysis of a song, I bet it would!! Maybe you could do a full disection on I Still Have Faith in You first and later see how and what the responses are from the rest of the ABBA fans??☺️ Take care and stay safe you guys.. and lots of love from Malaysia 😍😃👍.

Nowadays the massively overproduced and expensive videos hide all the simplistic songwriting. Where as ABBA had black or white backgrounds most of the time or did a simple shoot on location. The visuals of their robotic avatars are not my favourite moments in the video. Allthough they are jawdropping scenes. The four in the studio is much more pure. But maybe we all will adapt.

I would have loved to hear Agnetha on her own, although she doesn't have a voice as pure as Karen Carpenter her range is equal to Whitney's

There are a few songs by less known singers and bands I guess. You may have heard a few of these, without actually knowing. Elvis Presley - Are you lonesome tonight, Bob Dylan - The times they are a-changin, The Beatles - Norwegian wood, Paul Simon - Still crazy after all these years, Billy Joel - Piano man, Cat Stevens - Morning has broken, Rolling Stones - Time is on my side. I guess nobody liked their sound, and guitar music was on the way out anyway. 😀
