My buick 231 has the dualjet. It runs rich and I get maybe 2 miles to the gallon, literally. It had been sitting for about 7 years then I took over it last year. Changed sparkplugs and wires and yeah. 2mpgs and a choke that doesnt disegage unless its warm ans has been shut off for 5 mins. Otherwise the idle is at 1200-1500

My Rochester 2 barrelhas a problem my gas pedal cannot press to the floor due to a stuck flap on my carburetor. Anyone can give me some tip on what route I need to take.i used a lot of carb cleaner too see if it would loosen up. But that didn’t help

I have a 83 winnebago with 454 and Qjet. It has never left me stranded and works fairly well. I have noticed when accelerating that it spits and sputters. I have it timed and three turns out on the mixture screws. My question is this. Should the engine die when the screws are in all the way? Mine does not. It runs lower RPM but does not die. Is this bad mixtures screws or could it be my idle is too high? I am idling at about 900. I raised a bit since at low idle my oil pressure is about 20 when low and at 900 it is about 35. It has 150k. I do not have any leaks (tested with starting fluid) and fuel PSI is about 7-8. Great video but I have this question that is not letting me sleep (I have ODD).

I have a Rochester Dualjet 210 M2ME with number 17081144 stamped on it. Trying to find pump rod measurement and I think it is around 1/4 to 9/32 inch. If this is correct could you tell me how to make the adjustment on this?

I have a Rochester carburetor on my boat, trying to adjust, fast, idle warm-up, idle low, at start up so I have to keep throttle up and it’s dumping extra fuel. There is no screw on the choke side.

Josh I have question, I have 69 vette with 350, my quadrajet carb when I do the one pump prior to cold start the chock plate doesn't go full closed! It's about 1/4-1/2'' open still. I thought it was a weak divorce spring not pulling chock full closed but the high idle arm on the chock linkage isn't coming to the full up position. What do I need to adjust so that my chock plate is fully closed on cold starts? If I push up on the Idle cam linkage it will travel full up to the cold start/full chock closed position. This is happening on a brand new Quadajet I purchased for my vette. Great informative video! v/r Mike

Where are you located? I have a Winnebago with a Quadra Jet on a Chevy 454. I smell a lot of gas when I shut it off. I believe it is running very rich. I use 93 octane with Marvel's Mystery Oil. All of the vacuum lines are new and properly hooked up. David

David Bozic - check and see if the carb is leaking any gas out of it anywere if not chances are it is running very rich wich means the screws are backed out way to much i would half turn both screws "in" turnin the screw clockwise half of a turn and run it for a bit and see if the smell goes away if not try another half turn on both screws and run again and keep doing that until the smell goes away! Wat ur doing is leaning it out decreaseing the amount of fuel being burned also by doing this u will get better gas millege.

I rebuilt my Rochester quad a few months ago. It runs good and starts good. I went to fine tune the idle adjust, and when I screw both jets all the way in nothing changes. RPM's stay the same, never studders or misfires. Any idea what might be the problem? I had it out on the water today with both screws at 2 1/2 turns out, and it ran fine.

I have a Rochester single barrel on my 77 Camaro and there is a hesitation / dead spot when I initially press the gas pedal. This causes the car to lurch on acceleration and also makes it cut out if I try and accelerate around a corner. It’s been a long term issue - tried an electric fuel pump which cured the problem completely but the regulator then failed and fuel pressure was too high. Went back to another new mechanical fuel pump and a new accelerator pump but the problem is back. The problem seems to be worse after 10-20 mins when the engine is warmed up. Could it be a tuning issue ?

My quadrajet feels like it's running out of fuel up top (350 SBC, Double-hump heads, 2101 edelbrock intake). Will pulling the idle screw mix out help with extra fuel up top?

  • @DonutGuard

I know it's 2 months later, but I would suggest a new fuel pump that provides more fuel.

It's also worth noting that it's okay to be a little on the rich side. Your engine will run cooler with a rich mixture whereas a lean mixture will make it run HOT.

Vyktym hey, don’t know if the quadrajet Rochester carb has this (almost positive it does since the 2 barrel does) but a clogged or bent power valve would cause this in the top end. Usually you can tell from poweevalve failure when the motor bogs down in the top end. Hope this helps

I know that this is late, but I only saw this post today. Adjusting the idle screw will NOT fo anything for your top end WOT. What will help are two things; 1. A performance upgrade fuel pump, 2. A high flow needle and seat like the ones posted below. quadrajetparts.com/quadrajet-needle-seats-c-128_30.html
