I remember ROC when I was a teen when it was on the fox network. It brings back memories. 10 years in the pen? He should had gotten life because hes a dark hearted bully and murderer, being influenced by andre. It was surprised that andre listened to Roc by going to the prison, edcationing that thug murderer and going to the road to redemption

NBC at the time already had The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. What they had with that, Blossom, Seinfeld, Wings, and a season later, Friends, it was enough for them. They were just coming off of having several black sitcoms since The Cosby Show ended in '92. Roc didn't have the strong ratings that would attract NBC and also this would've been too real for the network to handle.

Underrated show. I honestly have not seen this episode since the 90’s. I was only 11 yrs old at the time. But, watching this now, I immediately remembered what it was the moment that school scene came on. The whole rest of the time I was nervously anticipating Terrence getting shot the final moment he walked out of Roc’s house. 30 years later, still sends chills. This show was ahead of its time through how it depicted what was really going on in these type of neighborhoods. That simply made it more relatable. Most black sitcoms wouldn’t portray the same to such an extent unless it was some type of “special episode.” The Roc Show was too real for the masses. Crazy how it still resonates with what’s happening today. People still need to wake up

They probably pulled it off network because they didn't like the message and the writers of the show wouldn't sell out on it. That's what happened to a lot of black shows that got pulled off air.

@@OGGood-lb7bd what was the purpose of saying all shows go off ratings. Like I said it got cancelled for being too real. It had 3 seasons ppl tuned in but after some of the stuff with Andre Thompson ppl tuned out. They wanted to laugh n be entertained. During season 2 n 3 it was more seriousness than laughs. Plz don’t reply to my comments. If you know you know you obviously don’t.

*When I was a child, adults, teachers, and administrators were rarely around to supervise the school grounds and neighborhoods, or they were complicit. *Violence, crime, and bullying have always been a part of growing up, but adults were more involved in the past. Children learn from the malevolence or benevolence of adults. *I accuse every adult as being responsible for the chaos in our communities, no matter what label or family background they claim. *Every sickness and psychosis can be traced to communal apathy, cults of personality, and living vicariously through the malevolence of others. May God have mercy on us all. Silence equals complicity.

As someone that was falsely accused Andre is not lying prison or even jail is no joke it day to day survival the problem is these kids 🧒 have no structure because parents are immature themselves. Not to mention social media have a bigger influence than the guys and young ladies that are actually out in the streets committing crimes. Imagine children not listening to the participants of the scared straight program the inmates themselves really crazy 😜
