@@tomjenkins6778 TLDR: they're just not that funny. As someone else who isn't too fond of Mashed, I think I may be able to weigh in on this. I'd also be interested to hear what the OP has to say if he/she does not share my sentiments. The problem I have with Mashed is that, from my casual viewing point, their stuff is mostly bad. They've had a few really good animations (Painter's work on the channel is good, and feels almost official), as well as a few that, while not masterpieces, are certainly enjoyable (what I've seen of One Jump Man and the JoJo Pokemon parodies come to mind). The rest of their work is just needlessly crass, doesn't feel like it respects the source material, and overall isn't that enjoyable to watch (what I've seen of their BotW vids proves as a good case study on this point). Despite this, they seem to be super popular. So, they must be doing something right.

@@tomjenkins6778 TL : DR Shock humor isn't shocking anymore A majority of the humor in Mashed is "Shock" humor, the joke is often that something in pop culture that isn't gory or gross or violent is now one or all of these things and they drive it into the ground. It's fine if you are new to that kind of humor, but it caters to a younger demographic because anyone in their mid-20s or older has seen that joke over and over and over again. Mad Magazine did it, Robot Chicken did it, like half of Newgrounds did it. It's just boring now.

@@yourgoodfriend276 While I think that's not an entirely unfair view of mashed historically (at least with some of our content) I don't really know if I agree that is representative of the majority of content we've been putting out for a good couple of years now. Of course there are still some, but it feels like you maybe haven't watched much of the content for a while now. Appreciate the constructive criticism none the less!

@@sadrobot2603 You make an interesting point here, and I think is a fundamental strength (and yet also weakness) of the channel. We are a very broad church content wise, working with lots of different people on lots of projects that inevitably vary in tone and scope. I think you are confusing a perceived lack of respect for the source material for more pragmatic reasons. I would argue that both Something About Amy & Something About Knuckles series while obviously diverging in some ways from it pay a huge amount of respect to the source material. Then our Baldur's Gate shorts, Cult of the Lamb cartoon & Cuphead shorts are very very close to the source material. We've also starting developing and publishing some original IP in the shape of Hell Ark & Anime Penguin. Happy to continue the conversation, but if not, appreciate the detailed rationale :)
