hmn sound like transformer to me - no wonder you can't find it , but i think robotix - description of there robot is more realistic than transformer robot men -- since ... look inrealistic term , so everyone here anyone realized that in transformer they just walking metal escaping from cybertron to here , no explanation - and this movies explain about that , nice.

I watched this as a child and did not care it was a transformers knock off

It definitely confused my son who i raise on transformers. If I had the money and resources I'd reanimate EVERY episode of G1 like this.

I found this at a flea market as a kid and watched it obsessively. Thank you for bringing back lots of childhood memories ❤️

Turns out I was wrong. Tyrannix was actually voiced by Frank Welker. Latta wasn't in this.

Just so people know, Robotix was a construction kit line by Milton Bradley (subsidiary of Hasbro) in the same sort of toy as Meccano construction kits or Erector Sets and K'Nex. A short lived comic and cartoon were made to try and promote these sets. The comic was published by Marvel while Sunbow AND Marvel Productions produced the cartoon for the Super Saturday/Super Sunday/Super Week show, to promote this line with Jem, Bigfoot and the Muscle Machines and Inhumanoids, That's why they were able to recycle music pieces from G.I. Joe/Transformers and Inhumanoids as they were ALL by the same composers; Johnny Douglas and Robert Walsh and use the same Los Angeles based talent pool of actors for the characters. And YES four bars of the theme do sound like the song 'Ghostbusters' by Ray Parker Jr. It was a coincidence. The toys, cartoon and mini comic only lasted a year. The characters sadly did not appear like the construction kits, with the exception of Argus and there was no good vs. evil conflict. Just build the biggest motion toy that you can through multiple parts.

Josh Darnell OK then, but you see my point is that the majority of the characters didn't look like their cartoon counterparts. Venjurax for example was a space station kit or something like that.

chinito77 Some production companies were able to re-use tracks by the same composer, another fine example is Shuki Levy who's music gets re-used a few times in Saban and DiC productions. You're welcome. :)

This is like (The Real) Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters, the latter which was done by Filmation and confused a lot of kids of my generation, making us think they were some sort of farm team to the much more movie like Ghostbusters cartoon.

Funny: the leader of the bad guys is the voice actor as Optimus Prime, and the leader of the good guys is the same voice actor as Destro.

I never watched this as a kid growing up, but now for some reason, I can't turn away. I missed out on nostalgia.

What I find interesting is much this short lived series analogues the plot and elements of both Transformers and M.A.S.K.

Even though I remember these toys, I had NO idea that there was a cartoon to accompany the property. Glad I'm discovering it now!

For instance, my small town didn’t have the channel that showed “HeMan and the Masters of the Universe”. I could only see it when I went to visit my cousin in Dallas.

Back when American cartoons​ were good and entertaining. Damn I miss the 80s and 90s!

Pretty sure these were made by an anime studio. I think Marvel only handled the storyboards.

It was a really nice experience to re-watch it after almost 30 years :). I used to love this series!

Cartoons now a days have no candle to the 80's. The 80's are always the best!

I love how epic the mythologies and storylines were. Glad that the writers (and pretty much everyone else involved) took the creating of these cartoon seriously and didn't settle for just making 30 minute toy commercials.

i see this as the pilot for another robot show/toy line that could make a cross over with transformers both shows have the same narrator and deal with humans so its not a stretch but tossing that aside i do miss this level of cartoon entertainment and its done right short and sweet with some wiggle room for more

Their war is without end, but the arrival of humans into the conflict may save the day! Their homeworld also includes a race called the Rock Lords that can transform to and from immobile rocks. Hey, that's also familiar!

The animation is increíble for it's time this was a great robot 80s cartoon and a classic!!!!

Protectons and Terrorcors are such awesome names. Also "Not while I live!" "I find your terms agreeable..." Always loved that line.

I honestly wondered, where there any Terrorkors who, Similar to Drift, Jetfire, or Knockout who defected to the Autobots in transformers, like some Terrakors decided to join the Protectons, if the show went on longer, this concept would possibly been done here

...I still remember this! Talk about a trip down memory lane...

Having some of the top 80s voices from back then absolutely made this cartoon stellar!! Having transformers, GI Joe and mask coming together this way was absolutely impeccable!

I loved this cartoon series as a kid and still do to this day. Holds up very well. It was a shame it was so short lived.

Strange hearing Peter Cullen as the voice of the leader of the robot bad guys as he was voicing Optimus Prime at the time!

I was given a robotix sticker when I was about 5, and was always intrigued by it but never knew where it came from. Mystery solved and most impressed, thanks for uploading!

I was 14 years old when this cartoon came out this is really classic watch it after all these years it would be great to do some kind of remake using CG animation

This is up their with Inhumanoids for ahead of its time.

I recognize a lot of the background tracks being used in the Sunbow GI Joe series too. Man, this brought back some memories.

I loved watching these as a kid...80's cartoons were the best.

It is definitely interesting how so many 80s and cartoons had some of the same voice actors. This one, Transformers, GI Joe, Voltron, and even a few Disney cartoons Duck Tales, Winnie the Pooh, Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers and Darkwing Duck. This is one of those rare occasions I remember Peter Cullen voice a bad guy. The other few times when he voiced Venger in Dungeons and Dragons and when he voiced Shawn Berger in Transformers' second season and the Decepticon Slugslinger in the final three episodes of the original series.

Slugslinger is an underrated character.

This show has a good story line to it.

Had this on video, my little brother used to watch it over and over, drove me crazy!!!

I remember the toys, even played with them.....no clue it was a cartoon too! First time ever hearing of this. All voices and sound effects are really familiar.

This was produced by the same company as did G.I. Joe and The Transformers. No wonder the vibe feels so similar.

i always liked this show....cool robots and aliens, whats not to like.

Found this thanks to Toy Galaxy! They said it's name along with a picture. Been looking for this series for almost 20 years.

Actually, this is a lot like Rebirth / Headmasters in Transformers. And somehow Tyrannix sounds like Galvatron and Starscream combined. And the chubby guy is pretty much what I imagine Ironhide looking like as a human.

I watched the re-runs probably, but yeah I could still remember glimpse of this. The reason why I love robots and love to take them apart, breaking many of my toys when I was but a toddler.

Protectons and Terrorcors... They don't make 'em like this no more.

I remember this,it was based on motorized toys,to the point that you could build robots and have them move.

I remember I watched this on the TV up in NH while on vacation had to be 86 or so and I was no older than 5 or 6.

LOVED this series as a kid!!! We had so many great toy commercial cartoons!! ("MASK" was another one. COPS too!)

Wow this is a great find. I don't think I've even seen the series but when I remember a VHS movie of Robotix I used to rent from time to time when I was a kid. This is even better than I remember!

Wow! What a throwback! I remember this being on TV and having a few of the toys aswell. They were great, and I used to use them for my Star Wars and Action Force figures too. Happy days 1985/86 :-)

Sunbow/Marvel produced this show originally for their Super Saturday/Super Sunday line up, that also included Inhumanoids, Jem and Bigfoot and the Muscle Machines in 1985 and yes the purpose was to help sell more Hasbro toys.

Yeah, I remember trying to watch this cartoon through the static on channel 3 (we didn't have cable when I was a kid). I remember the snake with wheels, but could never, for the life of me, remember what this series was called. I'm excited to finally have an answer. Thanks for posting this.

So funny, nearly 40 years later, I still remember the theme song for this show. I forgot it existed, but as soon as I saw the video title, I immediately remembered hearing the intro as a kid.

You said it James Best Jr.! I'm ecstatic I was an 80's kid! Our cartoons had innovation, uniqueness, and challenged a child's capacity of imagination. Quite advanced and ahead of their tome mant 80's cartoons were. Most of today's toons are brain dead, doofus, goofy humor, with poorly drawn animation. The VERY FEW good modern day cartoons get cancelled too quickly. So sad. :-(

There was an episode of G1 Transformers where the guy in his late teen years (can't remember his name but he was the son of the construction worker who regularly featured in the show) suffered a fatal injury, and the Autobots temporarly transfered his mind into a new experimental Autobot that was built out of spare parts. He flipped out at first and had a very hard time controling his emotions, being transfered into a robot body. He temporarly became a Decepticon when Megatron took advantage of his confused and frightened state of mind (I think they explained this as some sort of incompatability between the robot's brain and the human thoughtwaves imprinted on it), and convinced him that the Autobots were his enemy. He eventualy turned back to the side of good, his human body was healed, and his mind transfered back to it. That partucular episode was sad to the point of inducing tears, and fairly painful to watch. They went pretty dark and deep with it and it came at us as a bit of a surprise.

I remember this being advertised at the start of a Go-Bots vhs tape I had back in the late 80s/early 90s. So glad someone took the time to upload it. RO-BOT-IX!

I had this toy set about a year before this cartoon was made. The early Robotix toys I had didn't have a storyline as a kid I just made stuff up. Sometimes they helped Autobots and sometimes they helped He-Man but they always used them to help out the good guys.

Loved watching this as a kid. Each Saturday morning was exciting when Robotix came on. I didn't even have the toys. The story premise was (is) really good. Even in 2022, it would be cool to redo this as a movie with modern computer animation, I think it would sell. The plot / idea is really good, and the direction this could go would be new and exciting.

It's like Transformers G1 remixed: instead of ancient robots flying to Earth getting involved with humans with the bad guys wanting to exploit their resources, humans fly to a planet of robots where the humans are the resources. That, plus voice actors, sound effects, music shared with G1 too. And Peter Cullen voices a evil leader this time!

Peter Cullen also voiced Venger, another bad guy in the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon.

These voiceover actors stayed working. I hear ironhide, gung ho, Destro, Shipwreck, Major Blood and a few others

0:26 you can hear some the Ghostbusters theme used in this being used, also there's alot the same voice actors as The Transformers had.

Saw this when it aired. Also had the Marvel comic.

"Stop your knees knocking, so I can hear myself think" lol. Nice.

This would actually be a real problem if a metal robot's knees were knocking. Very loud indeed. Lol.

Cool, I remember this was part of a block of shows that also included BIgfoot and the Muscle Machines.🤖

ALOT of the show and story and fx and VA are recycled, but it is now part of transformers canon

How could they have made more? They killed off all the antagonists in the pilot! This cartoon is infamous as the first (and AFAIR, only) programme to be cited by the censors for violence against ROBOTS.

I m 36...had it on vhs, the first thing dad bought me when we got our VCR back in 86-87...can't stop watching it....but I've always pondered on what happened to their families on earth.....they had to go back with argus and co i think....

A classic!!! This was one of my favorite cartoons of all times!!! 🤘🤘🤘👍👍👍

The setting in this one is a-ma-zing! The post-apocalyptic world of Skalorr was both off-putting and eerily beatiful. This kicked the crap out of the other robot shows like Gobots or Transformers in my opinion.

The toys were cool. They had motors in the box and you could build stuff and the motors would make them move

I had the two big good guy robotic figures. They tended to break at the joints, but they were easy to fix. The wires were strong, the motors good and durable. The ratchet pieces sucked though.

Nice to see the Autobot ship bridge in a cameo
