They are confused cuz most penguins are pretty strict with their egg ownership and to see one with rolling around with no owner is probably a bit concerning. The more smarter penguins may have already disregarded it as a dud/dead egg. But maybe the ones with no partners probably would have taken their chances with a dead unowned eggs.

What I've learned from these robot videos ... the penguin that rarely moves, seldom speaks, and never blinks is most popular. Also, the impressive egg launching abilities.

I think it's funnier to watch these with the perspective that the Penguins know these are fakes, but they're so confused by our weird-ass designs that they end up fascinated with them anyways.

Penguins tend to want to care for anything even remotely egg-shaped. In zoos, some will attempt to incubate stones. I can't say whether they know it's not an egg, but their parental instincts are very strong.

This reminded me how much I love penguins.

This show was so entertaining and enjoyable to watch. My Mom and I found it hilarious with the spies and how many are there. I hope they bring this show back on PBS someday on the Nature hour

Well, if they're emperor penguins, they're only monogamous for year and then they usually switch partners. These are just the ones who weren't lucky this year- either because they didn't have a baby or didn't get a mate- but next year they could easily be parents!
