Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra Dock Hot Air Dryer Module - Full Test Results!

One of the biggest complaints about the S7 MaxV Ultra when it came to market was with the lack of a hot air drying system to dry the wet mopping pad. Users complain of stinky mopping pads sitting around and I have to agree with them. With the retail price of around $1500 Roborock should have included this system from the beginning, however since they did not they have now released an add-on dock dryer module as they call it. No sadly it is not free and even if you purchased the dock you have to pay around $90 USD for this module.
In this video I will give you a full overview with installation and complete specs and test results. For $90 and as an after-thought does it even work?

    I wouldn't call the hot air dryer module "100% necessary", but I do like having it in place. Its so quiet I wasn't sure it was working. Although, since I've had it (and its been months now), I've never had a smelly mop with the Roborock. For my personal recommendation, I like having it there and having the mop dried whenever it gets wet. I can't help but believe it must extend the life of the mop a bit and for that I'm appreciative. So yeah, maybe not 100% necessary, but adding it to the unit makes Roborock the very best vacuum out there...and goodness knows I've tried a bunch of them!

    Great review! It’s on my wish list but I’m not convinced that I need it. After every mopping I empty the dirty water collection tank and swap out the wet mop pad for a fresh, dry one. Takes all but a few minutes. Still beats mopping my floors manually by a long shot. But I’ve rationalized other purchases for less of a reason in past. Time will tell.

  • @acdnintheusa

    @acdnintheusa

    @@somerandomperson8282 Perhaps. However, it's not attainable without the heated air dryer. The pads get a sour smell when allowed to dry naturally while mounted to the bottom of the robot. That smell is imparted on the floor surface if the pad is reused after that drying method. For now, I will take the 30 seconds needed to swap out the pads.

    I've had the S7 MaxV Ultra for 3 weeks now. The mopping head is washed after a mopping job. The unit parks into the dock with the rear portion, where the mopping head is, is somewhat elevated and exposed to the air in the room. The mop dries in a few hours. You might also just remove the mopping pad (a real pain, I know) and let it air dry. For people who run frequent vac/mopping jobs, or have lots of messy jobs, the drying unit might be just what you need. Thanks for this excellent review!

How long you tell it to dry the pads for. It has 3 different durations to select from. I suspect someone could take my energy consumption information and figure it out based on their usage. It is really pretty insignificant usage imo. Thanks for watching!

    Very good content, straight to the point. I bought the chinese module from Aliexpress, its rated at 220V and my S7 MaxV is 110V. But if you plug the dryer on 110V outlet, it also outputs 110V to the dock, which is very logic. Also, the dock appears to be working normally with the dryer. The thing is, I measured the energy consumption of my 220V drying module plugged on 110V, and it's showing the same numbers as yours (0.55A and 38W). Very weird, since it's working on a lower voltage, it was supposed to be outputting less power, around 20W. The only explanation is if my module is actually bivolt, not 220V. Or yours is also 220V and you don't know, since you said there is nothing specified in the box. Anyone that have the drying module got different numbers?

    I did more tests and the drying module is definitely bivolt. Plugged in 220V and all measures were the same, except power factor, that was 0.6 on 110v and 0.3 on 220v. Everything else was the same, even the blowing temperature (around 100F). I don't know why they would specify as 220v only.

    How good cleans the dock the mopping pad itself? So how many times is good to re-use it without replacing it for a clean new mopping pad? When you put the mopping pad after every mopping cycle in your you washmachine, i dont see the advantage with the dryer module.

  • @jamie.andrews

    @jamie.andrews

    Жыл бұрын

    The dock cleans it fairly good, but depending on the amount of use it sees you will still need to hand wash the pad from time to time. I can not really answer your question on how many times a mopping pad is good for since there are way to many variables to give one answer. I replace mine once a year for good measure, but I don't use one robot daily. Most people with the Ultra dock do not remove it after every mopping job to hand wash it. That defeats a large reason for the dock itself. While you should remove the mopping pads and clean it by hand or washing machine every so often, if you can dry it on the dock you cut down on bad smells created when it air dries after a mopping job. If you are the person who is always going to remove it to wash it after a mopping job, the dryer module is 100% useless for you. Hope this helps.

    I tried ordering one from Roborock, but they've been out for a while, so I bought one of the dryer modules from China on Amazon - it said "US Plug," so I thought that's what it would be. Turns out it had a European plug, but came with an adapter for US plugs. Since there's no voltage conversion, it works just fine with the adapter plug. I worried because you're replacing the main AC cord with the dryer module cord, but all is well. It is a Roborock-branded dryer module and works as expected. The app recognizes it, too. I think it is important to dry out the mop pad. Here's the one I ordered on Amazon: www.amazon.com/dp/B0BNG7DRMM?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

    You can preorder on roborock’s site. It is estimated to ship out next Monday - 12/5. Not that big of a deal as long as that date doesn’t slip.

    Hi ! Thanks for informations sharing! Does anyone knows if it's S7 pro ultra compatible or only for MaxV ultra dock? And tested it? With Ultra Pro I have no drying module setting on roborock app like in the video at 2:20min (kzread.info/dash/bejne/gJeGs6yNo9HOYdY.html) and i don't know if i could purchase it.

    We do not have the S7 Pro Ultra in the US so I can not comment myself. Maybe post the question over on the Roborock Reddit. www.reddit.com/r/Roborock/

    @@jamie.andrews I find more information in reddit in fact. Drying module isn't available for S7 pro ultra for now. Roborock team reply to someone who ask if it will be and they say " Hopefully, they will be able to manage it in the future" Maybe someone will find a tip to hack it before lol it seems to be really helpfull because it's annoying to remove the mop each time it's used. thanks for your answer

    @@lucettestunt On Reddit there is at least one post where someone has attached the dryer module to the S7 Pro Ultra dock. They said you have to manually press the button to operate the dryer, every time you want to use it. The reason is that the infrared sensor in the dryer module does not communicate with the S7 Pro.

    I think robot mops vacuum combos still have a ways to go. I might consider just a vacuum especially since I’m afraid of mold and more maintenance since it has more parts than a vacuum only

    I use a roborock. It is hands down the best vacuum/mopp I've used. Miles ahead of the ecovacs I used before. It's app is outstanding and many of the annoying issues simply don't exist with this thing. I haven't noticed any mold issues. I have large dogs always running through my house and this thing keeps my floors cleaner than I could have imagined. The amount of time it saves me, I used to spend 1-2 hours cleaning my floors, every day. Now I maintain the robot, probably around 30 minutes a week.

    My floor plan is all hardwood floors and I have area rugs all over. This solution is perfect. It does a great job mopping the floors and vacuuming the rugs. With this dryer module, everything is not totally automated and the first time I have a complete solution. You can wait; obviously your choice but this robot is amazing in my scenario.

    Call me old fashioned, but I rather have a regular S7 and rather change the mop daily. Seems to be more energy effecient as well to buy 8-10 mops than drying the same mop for 3 hours every day

    Several people are like you as I have heard this from many people. One thing you should also consider is for larger homes the S7 MaxV Ultra can go back every so often to have the water tank topped off and the pad washed. To me this is important plus it means the pad is completely wet when the job is initially started. On my S7 I have to prewet the mopping pad.

    This why you don't buy 1st product of new innovations everyone make mistake roborock have the best solution but they forget to put this drying fan, even using cheap van to blow constant air will help drying process. Both ecovac lack the mop lift function, dreame forget to put water tank into the robot, but they smart enough tomake the base detachable so you don't need to bring the whole base to clean it. Not to mention they expensive as hell.

    Makes perfect sense to use a device that doesn't require constant attention to replace the pad. After all, if you buy a robot like that, that means you ARE lazy as you don't want to mop the floors your own self.
