I can't tell you exactly what happened in this movie, but it seems like a 'robot' fought a 'vampire' and a witch with her breasticles hanging out. I think. A lot of wild stuff happens in this insane movie.

Jiangshi--Chinese Hopping Vampires--are more like zombies or revenants than straight up Draculas. Sometimes they come about when a taoist priest enchants the bodies of the dead to hop (because corpses are stiff and can't walk easily) back to their hometown for burial. If the corpses get loose from the priest guiding them home then they can cause havoc. Sometimes they pop out of their graves to take revenge because of grave desecration or because their family isn't giving proper honor to their memory. They got mixed up with the Western vampire somewhere along the line. Their rules are different than Dracula-type vampires. Hopping vampires can be stopped by pinning a paper spell on their heads. Sticky rice can be used to pull the evil out of them (I guess like kind of like how dry rice pulls water out of a cell phone that fell in the toilet) If you hold your breath then they can't see you. Some GOOD hopping vampire movies include Encounters of the Spooky Kind (1980), Mr. Vampire (1985), and Rigor Mortis (2013). Sorry for the tl:dr and for being that "actually," guy. I just like this sub-genre of vampire movies. They're wacky and they usually have kung fu and slapstick comedy, so they're fun.

The Chinese character for "jiang" (殭/僵) in "jiangshi" literally means "hard" or "stiff". It is believed that the jiangshi are so stiff that they cannot bend their limbs or body, so they have to move around by hopping while keeping their arms stretched out for mobility.

Ho used scenes from one of his earlier movies called Devil's Dynamite (the part about the drug dealers and the vampires) for this movie, so this another one of his cut-and-paste jobs. In this case he cannibalized one of his own movies. BTW: the vampires hop around because their legs are bound together (a Chinese burial custom).

The common name of the vampire type is the Jiangshi--their rigor mortis is so advanced that they can only hop, arms outstretched for balance. They are caused by an improper burial, or raised by some evil sorcerer, or just the soul refusing to leave and just wanting to cause trouble. Their outfit is a ceremonial burial shroud, not a royal garb as a lot of people think. Their weird color, sometimes depicted as actual fur, is apparently from fungus growing on the corpse. The scroll on them is a Taoist Fulu charm, apparently used by sorcerers to seal the bad spirit into the body. Lots of religions in Eastern culture use some kind of written seal or scroll--you see it a lot in Anime. According to legend and about a million Chinese movies on the subject (if anyone can find some, sent to Jason Brant) certain types of mirrors scare them off, or throwing sticky rice at them--which apparently draws out their evil. Or, apparently, rice powder works fine as well. :) The pionpi, as D S says, is the Mario version, but definitely based on the legend. Hey, for Mario, a hopping vampire/zombie is perfect casting!

In looking into this it turns out the game made in 1988 was based on a 1985 movie called "Mr. Vampire". The 1988 film you saw was a cheap knock off of Mr. Vampire and stared a guy in silver hockey pads. The trailer for Mr. Vampire is awesome. You should take a look. Sometimes a bad movie is just bad. So I assume you haven't seen much of this kind of "vampires" in other movies. For more of the stiff hopping Chinese zombie-vampire living dead, and how they work, I recommend the horror comedies Encounters of the Spooky Kind (1980) starring Sammo Hung, Mr. Vampire (1985) and Mr. Vampire II (1986) starring Ching-Ying Lam sporting the fiercest unibrow in Hong Kong cinema. Not sure if I'd call them so bad they are good. I think they are just good, at least compared to other Hong Kong movies of the time. But OK, today they are pretty funny for other reasons than just the intended comedy. I'm not an expert, but the more I've seen of this in Chinese movies, I've concluded that it's very much dependent on the view on Taoism. In "anti Taoism movies" the Taoist priests are depicted as wild corrupted degenerates on the side of evil, but in "pro Taoism movies" they are the champions of good, one with nature and the only thing defending us from chaos and destruction. Or sometimes a little bit in the middle. The hopping corpses apparently has to do with the tradition that you have to be buried where you were born to be at peace after death. This and the fact that other things can delay a burial makes for a lot of corpses in "storage". The Taoist priests can control the corpses until they are buried, so they could be seen as either people keeping the zombie apocalypse at bay, or creepy powerful necromancers you should be afraid of. Trailers: Encounters of the Spooky Kind - kzread.info/dash/bejne/c2yYyNyJm66Wps4.html Mr. Vampire - kzread.info/dash/bejne/oYajrZqCXbK0lpM.html Mr. Vampire II - www.dailymotion.com/video/x22p07e There are more sequels, but these are the only ones I can recommend.

Classic Chinese films like Mr. Vampire features Jiangshi as well, aka hopping vampires (they hop because of rigor mortis). You should check on that movie, the stunts and fight choreo are CRAZY. Regarding to burning paper and stuff - in Chinese culture, the dead needs money, clothes in afterlife so their relatives burn paper stuff for them because those burnt papers will later transform into spirit paper money/clothing if that makes sense.
