Robo Gear Build: BNVD 1431 Mk2 Tube/Lens Swap - How Nightvision is Built

Спорт

Surprise - bet you didn't expect an upload! Here with my obligatory once-a-year upload (haha?).
In this video - something a little different: I show you how to build a BNVD 1431 Mk2, since I have to swap out my tubes and my lenses. I was lucky to get a tour of OpFor Night Solutions' new manufacturing/build facility, where Z showed me the ins and outs of his operation and how to build night vision devices.
Fun Fact: OpFor Night Solutions owned/operated by my long-time airsoft-tech/great friend, Z. If you guys liked my "Gun of Robot" ZTW - then you'll understand why I trust Z with NVGs as well.

    Hahaha. I've made that same joke about myself often: my scheduling has sucked over the last number of years...and from the standpoint of my KZread uploads - it kinda could seem like I literally fell off the planet haha. But I swear - I'm still alive, exist, etc. and definitely am not an AI clone hosted in the Matrix. ;)

    Always cover or turn over that tube you already cleaned while you're cleaning and blasting other things with air. Saves some frustration and a re-purge. Ask me how I know!

    I was confused when I saw you posted a video but pleasantly surprised. I actually have the same housing with L3 tubes, didn't build them myself though. Assuming the tubes you have are adjustable gain, have you ever noticed slight flickering in either tube when you lower the gain?

  • @robomurrayairsoft

    @robomurrayairsoft

    9 ай бұрын

    My tubes actually aren't adjustable gain, so I haven't noticed any flickering. The only oddity I've experienced is in - what I think - is the auto gating kicking in when I turn them on IF in an environment where it triggers auto gating. It seems like one pod powers up before the other. Minor, but noticeable. And only in a brighter environment.

    Hey man, i have a set of mini nseas nvg which uses photonis XR5 or XD4, thinking about getting a new argus housing for the tubes, i was wondering if it will fit. I havent yet open it up to confirm the type of tubes its using, but wanna find as much infos as i could.

    I don't understand what is actually being adjusted on the goggles during the collimation phase. Can you explain that?

  • @robomurrayairsoft

    @robomurrayairsoft

    7 ай бұрын

    Great question. And sure can: Essentially collimation is the final step of ensuring that both tubes/pods are aligned in respect to one another correctly and on the same axis of vision. Missing that step - at the lower end of the problem, you'll get very slightly offset images of what you're seeing, from eye to eye. The brain largely can correct this...but it strains itself to do so...so it brings on eye strain and fatigue a LOT faster than regular nvg use. At the worse end - if it's REALLY out of wack - then you'll see blurred and double ghost images of things which is even harder on your eyes and brain, and can make the nvgs unusable.

    @@robomurrayairsoft Thanks for getting back to me, but I still don't understand what is being adjusted specifically on the goggles to move the tube into the correct position. Is there a screw somewhere that lifts one tube up a bit or something?

  • @robomurrayairsoft

    @robomurrayairsoft

    @@__K__B__ gotcha. It's physically adjusting the whole eye piece assembly until they match each other's axis.

    Did I see an NNVT tube? How do you like those?

  • @robomurrayairsoft

    @robomurrayairsoft

    9 ай бұрын

    You did! There's a long ass back story to why I'm now using NNVT that I might cover at some point - but I'll say this, NNVT is better than what I was using before (as I came to find out - again, backstory). I was pleasantly surprised by NNVT quality: am I completely down with the fact that it's a chinese product? No. That said - two things: 1) we're extremely limited in Canada with what we CAN get, and 2) the technology from outside the US over the last decade has gotten VERY good. I've only had these tubes for about 2 weeks now, but overall - don't have any current complaints. It's a good option for the price point.
